Let’s Draw a Birthday Present: A Fun Art Activity

Today, we’re going to have a lot of fun drawing a birthday present! This is a great way to use your imagination and creativity. Are you ready? Let’s begin!

A Special Hello

Before we start, let’s say a big hello to our friend, Brooklyn! Hi, Brooklyn! We think you’re an awesome artist. Now, let’s make something special together!

What You Need

To draw your birthday present, you’ll need:

  • A marker
  • Paper
  • Something to color with (like crayons, colored pencils, or markers)

Getting the Paper Ready

We’re going to make a surprise drawing, so let’s get our paper ready:

  1. Fold the Paper: Take the top of your paper and fold it down to meet the bottom. This makes a line in the middle.
  2. Make a Guideline: Fold the top back up to the middle. If you need more time, that’s okay!
  3. Flip and Fold Again: Turn the paper over and fold the bottom up to the top. Now you have three lines: top, middle, and bottom.

Drawing the Present

Now, let’s draw our birthday present!

  1. Draw the Box: Use your marker to draw a square or box. The top should be above the fold, and the bottom should be below it. Leave room for a bow on top.
  2. Outline the Box: Draw lines down the sides of the box and connect them at the bottom.
  3. Add the Lid: Draw a line across the fold for the lid of the box.
  4. Draw the Ribbon: Add two lines close together for the ribbon. Then, draw a curved line on top for the bow.
  5. Detail the Bow: Connect the bow to the box with lines and add little lines for the bow’s wrinkles.

Unfolding the Surprise

Now, open up your paper to see the inside of the present. You can draw anything you like here, such as:

  • Your favorite toy
  • The words “Happy Birthday” or “Surprise”
  • A cute teddy bear or any fun item

Use your imagination to make it special!

Coloring Your Creation

It’s time to add color to your drawing! Pick your favorite colors and make your birthday present look amazing. Take your time and enjoy coloring.

The Final Touches

After coloring, show off what you’ve drawn inside the present. You can add some confetti around your drawing to make it look like a real birthday surprise!

Sharing Your Artwork

We hope you had a blast drawing your birthday present! You can give your artwork to someone celebrating a birthday. It’s a wonderful way to share your creativity and make someone smile.

Thank you for joining us in this fun art project. We can’t wait to see what you create! Happy drawing!

  • What is your favorite part about drawing a birthday present, and why do you think it’s fun to use your imagination when creating art?
  • If you could put anything inside your drawn birthday present, what would it be and why? Can you think of a special gift you would like to give to someone?
  • How do you feel when you share your artwork with others? Can you remember a time when you made something special for someone and how it made them feel?
  1. Gift Observation Walk: Take a walk around your home or neighborhood and look for different types of boxes and presents. Notice their shapes, colors, and sizes. How are they similar or different from the one you drew? Discuss with a friend or family member what makes each gift special.
  2. Creative Gift Design: Imagine you are designing a gift for a friend. What would you put inside? Draw a picture of the gift and its contents. Think about what your friend likes and how you can make the gift extra special for them. Share your design with the class or a family member and explain why you chose those items.
  3. Color Mixing Experiment: Use your coloring tools to mix different colors and see what new colors you can create. Try to match the colors you see in real presents or create your own unique color for your gift drawing. Discuss with a friend or teacher how mixing colors can change the way your drawing looks.
