Drawing is a fun way to be creative, especially when you draw cute animals like dolphins. Let’s learn how to draw a cartoon dolphin together. Grab your markers, and let’s begin!
Start by drawing a big circle for the dolphin’s eye. Inside this circle, add a tiny circle at the top right and another tiny circle at the bottom left. Color the big circle, but leave the tiny circles white to make the eye look cartoonish.
Next to the eye, draw a curved line for the top of the dolphin’s head. Make the line go down a bit, as if the dolphin is jumping out of the water.
For the dolphin’s nose, draw a sideways “U” shape coming out from the head. This will make your dolphin look friendly.
Now, draw the bottom part of the dolphin’s body. Start where you finished the head and curve downwards, stopping halfway.
To draw the flippers, make a curve coming out from the body. Curve it back up to connect with the body. Draw another flipper next to it, making sure they look like they’re popping out.
Imagine a line starting from the nose, going under the flipper, and curving back up near the body. This will make your dolphin look more real.
For the tail, draw a curve going out to one side. Then, draw a smaller curve on the other side. Connect them at the bottom with an “S” shape.
Draw a fin on the dolphin’s back. It should curve out and then back down into the body, just like the side flippers.
To make your dolphin look happy, draw a small smile coming from the mouth.
Now that your drawing is done, it’s time to color! Use colored pencils, crayons, or oil pastels. We used light aqua, but you can choose any color you like. How about a pink or purple dolphin for a fun twist?
Great job drawing your cute dolphin! Remember, it’s okay if your dolphin looks different from ours. The most important thing is to have fun while drawing. Enjoy your artistic adventure, and feel free to try different colors and styles!
Observe Real Dolphins: Take a moment to watch a short video or look at pictures of real dolphins. Notice their shapes, colors, and how they move. After observing, try to add some realistic details to your cartoon dolphin drawing. Can you make the tail or fins look more like the ones you saw?
Color Experiment: Use different colors and materials to color your dolphin. Try using watercolors, crayons, or markers. What happens when you mix colors? Can you create a new shade for your dolphin? Share your colorful dolphin with a friend and see how theirs is different from yours.
Create a Dolphin Story: Imagine your dolphin is the main character in a story. Where does it live? What adventures does it have? Draw a picture of your dolphin in its habitat and write a short story about its day. Share your story with your class or family.
