Drawing is super fun, and today we are going to learn how to draw a cute giraffe! Get your markers and paper ready, and let’s begin our art adventure.
Start by drawing a big oval shape for the giraffe’s eye near the top center of your paper. Inside this oval, draw a smaller circle in the top right and an even smaller circle in the bottom left. Color the big oval but leave the two smaller circles white. This makes the eye look shiny!
Next, draw the giraffe’s head with a U-shape. Begin right next to the eye, curve down, and then back up. This will be the giraffe’s face.
For the giraffe’s hair, draw little zigzags on its forehead. Then, draw two lines coming out from the top of the head for the horns. Connect them with a small sideways C-shape. Do this again for the second horn.
Now, let’s add the ears. Draw a curve coming out diagonally from the head and then curve it back down. Inside each ear, draw another smaller curve.
Draw a small circle for the nostril at the bottom of the head. You can also add eyelashes to make your giraffe extra cute!
Giraffes have long necks! Start next to the ear and draw a long, curved line going down. Do the same on the other side to make the neck.
To draw the front legs, start inside the body and draw a line downwards. Then, draw another line that curves down and connects with a big curve at the bottom. Repeat this for the second front leg.
For the giraffe’s belly, imagine a line connecting the neck to the legs, curving up to form the belly. Draw the back legs just like the front ones, making sure they look the same size.
Draw a small curve for the tail, then add a little tuft of hair at the end. It looks like a leaf!
Now that your giraffe is drawn, it’s time to add spots! Use colored pencils to add spots all over the body. You can also add shading to make your giraffe look more real.
Your giraffe drawing isn’t finished yet! Try creating a background. You could put your giraffe in a zoo, a jungle, or even outer space!
Great job drawing your very own giraffe! Remember, the most important part of drawing is to have fun and be creative. Share your artwork and enjoy the process!
Giraffe Spot Hunt: Go on a “Giraffe Spot Hunt” around your home or classroom. Look for objects or patterns that remind you of the giraffe’s spots. Can you find any circles or spots on clothes, toys, or books? Draw or take pictures of what you find and share with your friends. This will help you notice patterns and shapes in your everyday environment.
Create Your Own Animal: Use the steps you learned to draw a giraffe and create your own imaginary animal. Think about what kind of head, body, and legs it might have. What patterns or colors would it have? Draw your new animal and give it a name. Share your creation with your classmates and explain why you chose those features.
Story Time with Giraffes: Imagine a day in the life of your drawn giraffe. What adventures might it have? Write a short story or draw a comic strip showing your giraffe exploring its background setting, whether it’s a zoo, jungle, or outer space. Share your story with your class and see what adventures their giraffes have too!
