Drawing a Surfing Cat: A Fun Art Activity

Let’s have some fun drawing a cat surfing on a surfboard! Get your crayons and paper ready, and let’s begin!

Materials Needed

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A black crayon
  • Colored crayons
  • A sheet of paper

Step 1: Drawing the Cat’s Head

  1. Draw a Circle: Start by drawing a circle for the cat’s head.
  2. Add the Nose: Inside the circle, draw a “V” shape for the nose. Connect the top to make a triangle.
  3. Draw Sunglasses: Above the nose, draw a line that curves over it. Add two “U” shapes on each side for the sunglasses and color them in.

Step 2: Adding Facial Features

  1. Draw the Mouth: Below the nose, draw a “U” shape for a smile.
  2. Create the Ears: Draw two lines going up and down on each side of the head for the ears.
  3. Add Whiskers: Draw three whiskers on each side of the cheeks.

Step 3: Drawing the Body

  1. Draw the Body: From the head, draw two lines going down for the body. Connect them at the bottom with a line.
  2. Add Paws: Draw two upside-down “U” shapes for the front paws. Then, draw the back paws sticking out from the body.

Step 4: Drawing the Surfboard

  1. Create the Surfboard: Draw a line going out to the side for the surfboard. Make it as long as you like.
  2. Complete the Surfboard Shape: Draw a sideways “V” to finish the surfboard. Add curves at the bottom to make it round.

Step 5: Adding the Tail

  1. Draw the Tail: Add a curved line from the back of the cat, then curve it back to finish the tail.

Step 6: Coloring Your Drawing

Now it’s time to color your drawing! Use an orange crayon for the cat and add any other colors you like.

Step 7: Adding Background Elements

Make your picture even more fun by adding:

  • A sun
  • Birds
  • An island with a palm tree
  • Fish around the surfboard

Conclusion

Great job on drawing a surfing cat! This activity helps you practice drawing and lets you be creative with colors and details. We hope you had fun and can’t wait to see your amazing artwork!

  • What do you think a cat would feel like if it were really surfing on a surfboard? Can you imagine what it might see or hear?
  • Have you ever seen a cat or any other animal doing something funny or unusual? What was it, and how did it make you feel?
  • If you could add any other animal to your drawing, what would it be and why? How would you draw it having fun in the water?
  • Surfing Cat Story Time: After drawing your surfing cat, imagine a story about its adventure. What does the cat see while surfing? Does it meet any sea creatures? Share your story with a friend or family member, and ask them to add their ideas to make the story even more exciting!
  • Color Exploration: Experiment with different colors for your surfing cat and its surroundings. Try using colors you don’t usually use for the ocean or the sky. What happens if the ocean is pink or the sky is green? Discuss how different colors can change the mood of your picture.
  • Outdoor Observation: Go outside and observe the sky, trees, and any animals you see. Notice the shapes and colors. When you come back, add these elements to your drawing. How does adding real-life details make your picture more interesting?
