In this lesson, participants are guided through a step-by-step process to create a cute character drawing, starting with the head and facial features, and progressing to the body, hands, and final touches. The lesson encourages creativity by allowing individuals to personalize their character with different hairstyles and colors. By the end, students are invited to showcase their artwork, celebrating their artistic efforts.
  1. What did we start with when we drew our character?
  2. Can you name one thing we added to the face of our character?
  3. What colors did you use to make your drawing special?

Let’s Draw a Fun Picture Together!

Are you ready to have some fun with drawing? Today, we’re going to create a cute picture step by step. Grab your markers, paper, and coloring tools, and let’s get started!

Step 1: Drawing the Head

First, let’s draw a big circle right in the middle of your paper. This circle will be the head of our character.

Step 2: Adding Facial Features

Now, let’s add some features to the face. Draw a tiny nose on the bottom left side of the circle. Since our character is looking down, make the nose small and a little bit sticking out.

Next, draw closed eyes near the nose. You can add some eyelashes to make it look extra cute!

Step 3: Drawing the Ears

For the ears, draw a backward “C” shape on one side of the head. Add a little line inside the ear to make it look more real.

Step 4: Creating the Hair

Now, let’s give our character some hair! You can draw a zigzag line connecting to the ear or use an “S” shape for a different style. Feel free to add a bumpy line on top for a ponytail or bun. You can even add a little flower to make it look cute!

Step 5: Drawing the Body

Let’s move on to the body. Draw two lines going down from the head. Make sure they are wider apart at the bottom. Connect these lines at the bottom to make the torso.

Next, draw the feet sticking out from the back. For one foot, draw a backward “C” shape, and for the other foot, draw just part of it to make it look like it’s behind.

Step 6: Adding Hands

To draw the hands, make a “U” shape that goes up and back down, like a prayer position. Add an upside-down “U” to finish the hands and a small line for the wrist. If you want, you can draw another hand behind the first one to make it look more real.

Step 7: Final Touches

For the shirt, draw a slanted line across the bottom of the torso. If you want, you can add a little bed next to your character, but we’ll keep it simple for now.

Step 8: Coloring Your Drawing

Now it’s time to color your drawing! Use your favorite colors to bring your character to life. Take your time and have fun!

Conclusion

Great job! You’ve finished your cute drawing. We hope you had a lot of fun creating your character. Show off your artwork to your friends and family, and keep on drawing!

  • What was your favorite part of drawing the character, and why did you enjoy it the most?
  • Can you think of a time when you created something unique, like a drawing or a craft? How did it make you feel to share it with others?
  • If you could add one more feature or accessory to your drawing, what would it be and why?
  1. Character Storytelling: Now that you’ve drawn your character, let’s give them a story! Think about who your character is. What is their name? Where do they live? What do they like to do? Write a short story or tell a friend about your character’s adventures. This will help you think creatively and bring your drawing to life with a fun background story.

  2. Observation Walk: Take a walk around your home or outside and look for different shapes that remind you of the shapes you used in your drawing. Can you find circles, “C” shapes, or zigzag lines in nature or in objects around you? Draw or take pictures of what you find and share them with your class. This will help you see how shapes are used in everyday life.

  3. Color Mixing Experiment: Use your coloring tools to experiment with mixing colors. Try blending two colors together to see what new color you can create. For example, what happens when you mix blue and yellow? Use these new colors to add more details to your drawing or create a new drawing. This activity will help you understand how colors work together and enhance your artwork.
