How to Draw a Christmas Cat: A Fun Guide

Let’s have some fun drawing a cute Christmas cat! Follow these easy steps, and you’ll have your own festive kitty in no time. Grab your crayons and paper, and let’s get started!

What You Need

  • Crayons (orange, red, black, and brown)
  • Paper

Step 1: Draw the Cat’s Head

Use your orange crayon to draw a circle near the top of your paper. This will be the cat’s head.

Step 2: Add the Ears

Draw an upside-down “V” shape on one side of the head for an ear. Do the same on the other side. These will look like little triangles.

Step 3: Create the Body

Draw a rectangle shape under the head for the body. Make the sides a bit slanted, like your cat is ready to pounce!

Step 4: Draw the Feet

At the bottom of the rectangle, draw two upside-down “U” shapes for the front feet. Add another upside-down “U” for the back leg. Connect them to the body.

Step 5: Add a Santa Hat

Use your red crayon to draw a Santa hat on the cat’s head. Start with a fluffy line between the ears. Then, draw an upside-down “V” for the top of the hat and add a circle at the tip for the pom-pom.

Step 6: Draw a Scarf

To keep your cat warm, draw a scarf around its neck. Draw a line across the neck, then make a rectangle for the top part of the scarf. Add diagonal lines for the ends and connect them. Add little lines at the ends for a realistic look.

Step 7: Color the Cat

Color the cat with your orange crayon. You can choose any color you like to make it special!

Step 8: Add the Tail

Draw a curved line from the side of the body for the tail. Make it thick and fluffy.

Step 9: Draw the Face

Use your black crayon to draw a “V” shape for the nose in the center of the head. Color it in. For the mouth, draw two “U” shapes, one going down and the other going up. Draw two filled circles for the eyes on each side of the nose.

Step 10: Add Whiskers

Draw three lines coming out from each side of the nose for whiskers.

Step 11: Add Details

Use your brown crayon to add extra details. Draw two upside-down “U” shapes for the front feet and trace the bottom of the cat. Add toes with two little lines on each foot. You can also trace the body and tail for more detail.

Step 12: Personalize Your Cat

Add stripes to the tail or body to make your cat unique. Trace over the head and ears for extra detail, and color in the smaller triangles inside the ears.

Conclusion

Great job! You’ve drawn a Christmas cat. Feel free to add more fun things like candy canes or presents to your picture. Enjoy your drawing and happy holidays!

  • What was your favorite part of drawing the Christmas cat, and why did you like it? Can you think of other animals you would like to draw with a holiday theme?
  • How would you describe your Christmas cat to a friend who hasn’t seen it yet? What special details did you add to make it unique?
  • Have you ever seen a real cat wearing a hat or scarf? How do you think a cat would feel about wearing clothes, and why?
  1. Cat Observation Walk: Take a walk around your neighborhood or look out the window to spot real cats. Observe their features such as the shape of their ears, the way they move, and their different colors. Try to notice if any cats have unique patterns or colors like the ones you drew. Discuss with a friend or family member how the real cats are similar or different from your Christmas cat drawing.
  2. Creative Cat Stories: Use your Christmas cat drawing as the main character in a short story. Think about what adventures your cat might go on during the holiday season. Write a few sentences or tell your story to a friend or family member. You can even draw more pictures to go along with your story!
  3. Color Mixing Experiment: Gather some crayons or colored pencils and experiment with mixing colors. Try combining different colors to see what new shades you can create. For example, mix orange and brown to see what happens. Use these new colors to add more details or decorations to your Christmas cat drawing, like a colorful scarf or hat.
