Drawing is a super fun way to be creative, especially when you can share it with friends. Today, we’re going to learn how to draw a cute Christmas owl. So, grab your drawing supplies, and let’s get started!
Let’s start by drawing the owl’s beak. Draw a letter “V” shape in the middle of your paper, near the top. This will be the start of the owl’s face.
Next, draw two big circles above the beak for the eyes. It’s okay if they’re not the same size! Inside each eye, draw a tiny circle in the top left corner to make the eyes look shiny and friendly.
Now, let’s make the eyes look bigger. Start from the middle of the eye and draw a larger circle around it. Do this for both eyes so they look similar.
To keep our owl warm, draw a cozy scarf. Start by drawing two lines from the beak to the sides, going past the eyes. Then, curve the lines up above the eyes to make the top of the scarf.
Draw a curve over each eye to make the top of the owl’s head. For the ears, draw lines that go up and then curve down to the sides of the head.
Let’s give our owl a Santa hat! Draw a straight line up from the ears, then connect them with a fluffy bottom. For the top of the hat, draw a line that curves over to the side and ends with a pom-pom.
Finish the scarf by drawing lines that go out and down from the sides. Connect the bottom with a line and add zigzag patterns for the scarf’s ends.
For the wings, draw a curve from the body, past the scarf. Add a zigzag line for the feathers. Do the same for the other wing, imagining it behind the scarf.
Draw two simple ovals for the feet. Inside each oval, draw two lines to make the toes or talons.
Give your owl a place to sit by drawing a straight line between the feet for a branch. Add a wiggly line on top for texture and another line below to finish the branch.
To make it look like winter, add some snow on top of the branch with bumpy lines.
Now that your owl is drawn, it’s time to color it! Use your favorite colors to bring your owl, scarf, and background to life.
Great job! You’ve drawn and colored your very own Christmas owl. Remember, every drawing is special, and the most important thing is to have fun and keep practicing. Enjoy your art adventure, and happy holidays!
Owl Observation Walk: Take a walk in your neighborhood or a nearby park with an adult. Look for birds and observe their features. Can you spot any owls or other birds? Notice the colors and shapes of their feathers, beaks, and eyes. Draw a picture of a bird you see and compare it to your Christmas owl drawing. How are they similar or different?
Scarf Design Challenge: Use fabric scraps, paper, or any craft materials you have at home to design a real scarf for your Christmas owl. Think about the colors and patterns you want to use. Once you’ve created your scarf, you can use it to decorate your room or give it to a stuffed animal as a cozy accessory!
Story Time with Your Owl: Imagine a story where your Christmas owl goes on a winter adventure. What does the owl see and do? Write a short story or draw a series of pictures to tell your owl’s adventure. Share your story with a family member or friend and ask them what they think your owl might do next!
