How to Draw a Cartoon Football Player: A Step-by-Step Guide

Drawing a cartoon football player is a fun and creative activity! Let’s learn how to draw one step by step. Grab your paper and drawing tools, and let’s get started!

Materials Needed

  • Paper
  • Drawing tools (like markers or pencils)
  • Coloring materials (like crayons or colored pencils)

Step 1: Draw the Eyes

Start by drawing two big circles for the football player’s eyes. Leave a little space between them. Inside each eye, draw a smaller circle for the shiny part, and color the bigger circle, leaving the small circle white.

Step 2: Draw the Mouth

Draw a straight line between the eyes for the mouth. This will make your player look serious.

Step 3: Add the Face Mask

To make the face mask, draw a curve from one side of an eye, down and then back up to the other side. Do this again below the first line to make a second bar. Connect the ends of these lines to finish the face mask.

Step 4: Draw the Helmet

Draw two lines going up from the sides of the eyes. Connect them with a curve at the top. Imagine a line going behind the first bar and connect it to the bottom bar. Do this on both sides. Then, draw a big upside-down “U” to connect the bottom bar to the top. Add details like short lines and dots, and maybe a stripe down the middle of the helmet.

Step 5: Draw the Body

From the bottom of the helmet, draw two lines down to make the neck and shoulders. Connect these lines to make a rectangle for the body. Add a line near the bottom for the waist and split the legs with a line down the middle.

Step 6: Add Legs and Shoes

Draw a line at the bottom of each leg for the shoes and color them in. Add three little spikes on each shoe for cleats. Draw a line across the bottom of the legs for the football pants.

Step 7: Draw the Chin Strap

Under the face mask, draw a small “U” shape for the chin strap. Add two little lines for texture.

Step 8: Draw the Football

Draw a curve coming down from the player’s hand to make the football, with a point at the end. Draw the other half of the football peeking out from behind the player. Add two lines down the middle for the stripe.

Step 9: Draw the Arms and Shoulder Pads

Draw curves for the shoulder pads connecting to the body. Then, draw the arms coming down from the shoulder pads, with one arm holding the football.

Step 10: Add Gloves

Finish by adding gloves to the hands. Your football player is now complete!

Step 11: Color Your Drawing

Now it’s time to color! Use any colors you like. You can use your favorite team’s colors or add your favorite player’s number on the jersey.

Final Touches

Add extra details like a football field, goal posts, or even other players. Be creative and have fun!

We hope you enjoyed drawing your cartoon football player. Happy drawing!

  • What was your favorite part of drawing the cartoon football player, and why did you like it the most?
  • Can you think of a time when you saw a football game or played football? How would you draw that moment as a cartoon?
  • If you could add something special to your cartoon football player, like a superhero cape or a funny hat, what would it be and why?
  1. Design Your Own Team Jersey: Imagine you are creating a new football team. What colors would your team’s jersey be? Draw a jersey on a separate piece of paper and color it with your chosen colors. Add a number and a logo to make it unique. Think about why you chose those colors and what they represent.
  2. Observe and Draw: Next time you watch a football game or see a football player, pay attention to the details of their uniform and equipment. Notice the shapes and patterns. Try drawing a new cartoon football player using what you observed. How does your new drawing compare to the one you did before?
  3. Football Player Story: Create a short story about your cartoon football player. What is their name? What position do they play? Write a few sentences about a day in their life as a football player. Share your story with a friend or family member and ask them to draw a picture of your football player based on your story.
