Let’s Draw a Funny Shrimp!

Today, we’re going to have fun drawing a cartoon shrimp! Get your drawing tools ready, and let’s dive in!

What You Need

Before we start, make sure you have these items:

  • Drawing paper
  • Markers or any drawing tools you like

Step 1: Draw the Shrimp’s Head

Begin by drawing a big circle for the shrimp’s head. Place it near the top left of your paper so you have room for the body.

Adding a Face

Let’s make the shrimp’s face:

  • Draw a “W” shape in the middle of the circle for the mouth.
  • For the eyes, draw two circles—one on each side of the head.
  • Inside each eye, draw a smaller circle and leave it white for a shiny look. Color the bigger circles.

Step 2: Draw the Shrimp’s Body

Now, let’s draw the body:

  • From the bottom of the head, draw a curve going down.
  • For the top of the body, start at the top of the head and draw another curve down to meet the first line.

Adding Legs

Time to add some legs:

  • Draw a big sideways “U” shape for the first leg, and do this five more times to make six legs.

Step 3: Draw the Tail

Let’s add a tail to our shrimp:

  • Draw a large “U” shape from the top of the body to the outside.
  • Add a smaller “U” shape behind it, and do the same on the other side.

Adding Texture

To make the shrimp look more real, add some texture:

  • Draw a line down the middle of the body.
  • Add curves that match the head shape to make it look 3D.

Step 4: Draw the Antennas

Don’t forget the antennas!

  • Draw a curvy “S” shape starting from the top of the head, going up and down.
  • Draw another similar shape next to it for the second antenna.

Step 5: Color Your Shrimp

Now for the fun part—coloring!

  • Use pink markers to color your shrimp. Try using two shades: a regular pink for the body and a darker pink for shadows.
  • If you have a white pencil, use it to add highlights.

Step 6: Add a Background

Make your drawing even cooler by adding a background. You could draw the ocean, other fish, or even tiny baby shrimp.

Conclusion

Great job on your funny shrimp drawing! We hope you had a blast. Remember to share your artwork and keep having fun with your creativity!

  • What was your favorite part about drawing the shrimp, and why did you like it? Can you think of other sea creatures you would like to draw?
  • Have you ever seen a real shrimp or other sea animals? What did they look like, and how were they different from the shrimp we drew?
  • If you could add something special to your shrimp drawing, like a hat or a funny expression, what would it be and why?
  1. Explore Shrimp in Nature: Take a trip to a local aquarium or watch a nature documentary about marine life. Look for real shrimp and observe their colors, shapes, and how they move. Discuss with your classmates or family how the real shrimp are similar or different from the cartoon shrimp you drew. What new details did you notice that you might add to your drawing?
  2. Create a Shrimp Story: Use your drawing as inspiration to write a short story about your shrimp. What adventures does it go on? Does it have any friends in the ocean? Share your story with your class or family and see if they can draw scenes from your story.
  3. Color Experiment: Try using different colors to create a new version of your shrimp. What happens if you use blues or greens instead of pinks? How does it change the look of your shrimp? Discuss how colors can change the mood or feeling of a drawing. You can even create a whole family of shrimp with different colors and patterns!
