How to Draw a Funny Waffle: A Step-by-Step Guide

Let’s have some fun and learn how to draw a funny waffle with syrup and butter! Get your drawing tools ready, and let’s begin this creative adventure!

Materials Needed

Before we start, make sure you have these items:

  • A pencil
  • Paper
  • Colors (like markers or crayons)

Step 1: Draw the Waffle Base

First, draw a big circle in the middle of your paper. This circle will be the waffle. Make it big enough so we can add syrup and butter later.

Step 2: Add the Butter

Next, draw a square with rounded corners on top of the waffle. Place it diagonally. This is the butter, and it makes the waffle extra yummy!

Step 3: Create the Syrup

Now, let’s add syrup! Draw drips coming down from the top of the waffle. You can make the syrup look however you want. Let it drip down the sides for a fun look.

Step 4: Draw the Waffle Grid

Use your pencil to draw lines that make the waffle look like it has squares. Start by drawing a light line around the circle’s edge. Then, draw two vertical lines down the middle, starting from the syrup. Add two more lines on each side.

Turn your paper sideways and draw horizontal lines across the waffle. This will make a grid pattern, giving your waffle its classic look.

Step 5: Add a Funny Face

Let’s give your waffle and butter some personality!

Butter’s Face

For the butter, draw two circles for eyes and smaller circles inside for highlights. Color the larger circles, leaving the smaller ones white. Draw a big smile with a U shape for the mouth, add a line for teeth, and a curve for the tongue.

Waffle’s Face

For the waffle, draw two lines for angry eyebrows and big eyes to show its funny mood. Add a U shape for the mouth and a W shape for the lips.

Step 6: Color Your Drawing

Use a brown color to fill in the waffle squares, but don’t color between them. Once you’re done, erase any pencil lines that go through the syrup.

Step 7: Final Touches

After erasing the lines, use a white color to add shiny highlights to the syrup. This will make it look extra tasty!

Challenge Time!

Your waffle is ready, but let’s make it even more exciting! Draw a background, like a plate with a fork and knife, or maybe a glass of orange juice. Use your imagination to finish your drawing.

Once you’re done, ask your parents to take a picture of your artwork and share it on social media with the tags #ArtForKidsHub and #AFKHChannelChallenge.

We can’t wait to see your amazing drawings! Happy drawing!

  • What is your favorite part of making a funny waffle drawing, and why do you think adding a face to the waffle makes it more fun?
  • Can you think of other foods that might look funny with faces? How would you draw them to make them look silly or happy?
  • Have you ever seen a waffle or another food that looked like it had a face in real life? What did it look like, and how did it make you feel?
  1. Waffle Observation Walk: Take a walk around your kitchen or dining area and look for real waffles or pictures of them. Notice the patterns and colors. How do they compare to your drawing? Can you find any other foods that have a similar grid pattern? Share your findings with a friend or family member.

  2. Create Your Own Toppings: Imagine your waffle has different toppings. What would they be? Use clay or playdough to create small models of these toppings and place them on your drawn waffle. Think about how the new toppings change the look and feel of your waffle. Discuss why you chose these toppings and what makes them special.

  3. Waffle Story Time: Write a short story about your funny waffle. What adventures does it go on? Does it meet other breakfast foods? Draw a picture to go along with your story. Share your story with your class or family and see if they can come up with their own waffle adventures!
