Welcome to a fun and creative lesson where we will learn how to draw a spooky Halloween face! Get your markers, paper, and colored pencils ready, and let’s begin!
Let’s start with the spooky eyes. First, draw a slanted line for the top of the eye, making the right side a bit higher than the left. Then, draw a curved line underneath to form a U-shape. Do the same thing for the other eye so they look the same.
Now, let’s make the mouth. Above the eyes, draw a zigzag line to show the spooky teeth. This line should curve down and connect back to the other side. For the bottom teeth, draw a big curve on each side to make a smile. Add zigzag lines like the top teeth, connecting them to the curve you just drew.
To make your drawing look 3D, let’s add some depth. Draw another line that follows the curve of the bottom of each eye. Then, use a pencil to put a dot between the eyes. This dot will help you line up the teeth. Use a ruler to draw lines from the edges of the teeth to the dot, making them look 3D. Do this for all the teeth, but skip the lines behind the front teeth.
After finishing the top teeth, do the same for the bottom teeth. Line up each tooth’s edge with the dot and draw the lines. Once done, erase the dot to tidy up your drawing. Now, use your markers to draw the inside line of the mouth. Use the teeth’s edges as a guide to shape the inner mouth. Connect the lines differently for the front teeth to keep the zigzag pattern.
Now that your drawing is complete, let’s add some color! Color the inside of the mouth yellow and the edges of the teeth and eyes orange. This will make it look like a candle is glowing inside the face.
Great job! You’ve drawn a spooky Halloween face that looks super 3D. You can use this design to inspire your jack-o-lantern carving. We hope you had fun with this project, and we can’t wait to see your creative results! You can cut out your shapes and display them on black paper or tape them to your window for a festive touch. Happy Halloween!
Spooky Face Hunt: Take a walk around your neighborhood or look through magazines to find spooky faces. Can you spot any Halloween decorations or pictures that have spooky eyes or mouths like the one you drew? Take a picture or draw what you see. Discuss with your family or friends how these faces are similar or different from the one you created.
Create Your Own Spooky Story: Use your spooky Halloween face drawing as inspiration to create a short story. What is the name of your spooky character? Where does it live? What spooky adventures does it go on? Share your story with your class or family and see if they can imagine the spooky face you drew in your story.
Color Experiment: Try coloring your spooky face with different colors. What happens if you use blue instead of yellow for the inside of the mouth? How does it change the mood of your drawing? Experiment with different color combinations and see how they affect the spookiness of your face. Share your favorite version with your friends and explain why you chose those colors.
