Today, we’re going to learn how to draw a beautiful flower called a hibiscus. This flower is very colorful and fun to draw. So, grab your markers and paper, and let’s start our art adventure!
The hibiscus flower is famous for its bright colors and special shape. It comes from a place called Hawaii, where it’s warm and tropical. Remember, every flower is different, just like our drawings will be!
First, let’s draw the middle of the flower. Start by making a curve in the center of your paper. This is where the flower begins. Then, draw a long line coming out from the middle, and another line right next to it. Make the lines thicker at the bottom and thinner at the top. Add some little bumps at the ends to make it look like a hand reaching out.
Now, let’s add the petals! Begin by drawing a big curve that goes out from the center. Then, make a wavy line that goes down and back up to meet the first curve.
Draw another petal above the first one using the same steps. It’s okay if your lines are a little wobbly; flowers in nature aren’t perfect either!
Next, draw a petal next to the second one, curving it down and connecting it to the center. For the fourth petal, draw it below the center, stretching it out to the side and curving it back in.
Finally, fill in the last space with the last petal, curving it down and back into the center.
Now that your drawing is done, let’s make it colorful! Start by coloring the petals pink and add some red in the middle to make it look 3D. You can also add yellow at the tips of the petals and use black to make the flower look deeper.
Feel free to try different colors because hibiscus flowers come in many shades!
Great job! You’ve drawn and colored a hibiscus flower. This fun activity helps you get better at drawing and lets you be creative. Don’t forget to take a picture of your artwork and show it to your friends and family. Happy drawing!
Flower Observation Walk: Take a walk in your garden or a nearby park with an adult. Look for different types of flowers. Can you find any that look like a hibiscus? Notice the colors, shapes, and sizes of the flowers you see. Draw your favorite flower when you get home and compare it to your hibiscus drawing. How are they similar or different?
Create a Flower Collage: Gather some old magazines or newspapers. Look for pictures of flowers and cut them out. Arrange them on a piece of paper to create a colorful flower collage. Try to include a hibiscus if you find one! This activity will help you see the variety of flowers and their beautiful colors.
Color Mixing Experiment: Use watercolors or colored pencils to mix different colors. Try to create the shades you used in your hibiscus drawing, like pink, red, and yellow. What happens when you mix red and yellow? How about pink and a little bit of blue? Experiment with different combinations to see what new colors you can create!
