How to Draw a Little Chick

Let’s Draw a Cute Chick!

Hi there! Today, we’re going to learn how to draw a little chick. Chicks are baby chickens, and they are super cute and fluffy. Let’s get started and have some fun!

What You Need

Before we start drawing, let’s gather our supplies. You will need:

  • A piece of paper
  • A pencil or crayon
  • Some colorful crayons or markers

Step 1: Draw the Chick’s Body

First, let’s draw the chick’s body. Draw a big oval shape in the middle of your paper. This will be the chick’s fluffy body.

Step 2: Add the Head

Now, let’s draw the head. Draw a smaller circle on top of the big oval. This is where the chick’s face will be.

Step 3: Draw the Beak

Next, let’s give our chick a beak. Draw a small triangle on the circle for the beak. Chicks use their beaks to peck at food!

Step 4: Add the Eyes

Time to draw the eyes! Draw two small circles above the beak. You can color them in to make them look like eyes. Now your chick can see!

Step 5: Draw the Wings

Let’s add some wings to our chick. Draw two small curved lines on each side of the big oval. These are the chick’s wings, and they help it flap around.

Step 6: Add the Feet

Finally, let’s draw the feet. Draw two little lines coming down from the bottom of the oval. Add three tiny toes to each line. Now your chick can walk!

Color Your Chick

Great job! Now it’s time to color your chick. Chicks are usually yellow, but you can use any color you like. Make your chick as colorful as you want!

All Done!

Yay! You’ve drawn a cute little chick. You did an amazing job. Keep practicing, and soon you’ll be able to draw all kinds of animals. Have fun and keep creating!

  • What do you think makes chicks so cute and fluffy? Can you think of any other animals that are cute and fluffy too?
  • When you were drawing your chick, did you decide to use any special colors? Why did you choose those colors, and how do they make your chick look unique?
  • Have you ever seen a real chick or any other baby animal? What was it like, and how did it make you feel?
  1. Chick Observation Walk: Take a walk outside or visit a farm if possible. Look for birds and observe their features. Can you see any birds that look like chicks? Notice their beaks, wings, and feet. Discuss with your friends or family how these features help birds in their daily life.

  2. Chick Craft Time: Use craft materials like cotton balls, colored paper, and glue to create a 3D model of a chick. Use cotton balls for the fluffy body, paper for the beak and feet, and markers for the eyes. This hands-on activity will help you understand the different parts of a chick and how they come together.

  3. Story Time with Chicks: Read a storybook about chicks or baby animals. After reading, draw your favorite scene from the story, including the chicks. Share your drawing with your class or family and explain why you chose that scene. This will help you connect your drawing skills with storytelling.
