How to Draw a Cartoon Lobster: A Fun Guide

Drawing is a super fun way to be creative, and today we’re going to learn how to draw a cartoon lobster! This guide will help you step by step, so it’s easy to follow. Grab your markers, paper, and coloring materials, and let’s start drawing!

Materials Needed

  • Marker
  • Paper
  • Coloring materials (crayons, colored pencils, or markers)

Step 1: Draw the Mouth

Begin by drawing the lobster’s mouth in the middle of your paper. Make a “W” shape to show the mouth of the lobster.

Step 2: Add the Eyes

Next, draw two circles on each side of the mouth for the eyes. Inside each circle, add a smaller circle and color in the bigger circle, leaving the smaller one white to make it look cartoonish.

Step 3: Outline the Body

Now, let’s draw the lobster’s body. Start with an upside-down “U” shape that goes over the eyes and down on the other side.

Step 4: Draw the Tail

For the tail, draw a small curve extending out to the side. Then, make a bigger curve for the belly, leaving a little space at the bottom to look like a lobster’s body.

Step 5: Complete the Tail

To finish the tail, draw a “U” shape that curves out and back in, like a backward “C.” Add a couple more curves to give it more detail.

Step 6: Draw the Pinchers

Next, we’ll draw the lobster’s pinchers. Start with a small “U” shape coming out from the top of the body. Do this again on the other side to make the second pincher.

Step 7: Define the Pinchers

For the big pinchers, draw a larger “U” shape starting from the arm and curving up. Connect it back down to the arm. Do this on the opposite side, trying to keep them the same size.

Step 8: Add Details to the Pinchers

Inside each pincher, draw a small bump and connect it to the top to give it shape. Then, draw another curve on each side to finish the pinchers.

Step 9: Draw the Feet

For the lobster’s tiny feet, draw a “W” shape with an extra bump at the bottom. Do this for the other leg, leaving a little space in between.

Step 10: Add Antennae

Finally, draw two small curves at the top of the lobster’s head for the antennae.

Step 11: Color Your Lobster

Now that your lobster is drawn, it’s time to color! You can use red to color the lobster, but feel free to use any colors you like.

Final Touches

Once you finish coloring, think about adding a background. You could draw the lobster walking on the ocean floor or even add a baby lobster nearby. The possibilities are endless!

Conclusion

Great job on drawing your cartoon lobster! We hope you had fun and feel excited to add more details to your drawing. Happy creating!

  • What was your favorite part about drawing the cartoon lobster, and why did you like it? Can you think of other sea creatures you might want to draw?
  • When you colored your lobster, did you choose the traditional red or did you use different colors? Why did you choose those colors, and how do they make your lobster look unique?
  • Imagine if your cartoon lobster could come to life. What kind of adventures do you think it would have in the ocean? What other animals might it meet?
  1. Explore Lobster Anatomy: Take a closer look at real lobsters! With the help of an adult, find pictures of real lobsters online or in a book. Compare your cartoon lobster drawing to the real ones. What are the differences and similarities? Try drawing another lobster, this time adding more realistic details you observed.

  2. Create a Lobster Habitat: Use a shoebox or a small cardboard box to create a 3D habitat for your cartoon lobster. Gather materials like sand, small rocks, and blue paper for water. Place your lobster drawing inside the box and imagine what it would be like to live in the ocean. What other sea creatures might live there? Add them to your habitat!

  3. Story Time with Lobsters: Imagine a day in the life of your cartoon lobster. Write a short story about an adventure it might have in the ocean. What challenges does it face? Who are its friends? Share your story with your class or family, and maybe even draw some scenes from your story!
