Let’s have some fun drawing a cute puppy peeking out of a Christmas stocking! Gather your drawing tools, and let’s get started on this exciting art adventure!
Start by drawing a letter “V” shape in the middle of your paper, a little bit towards the top. This will be the puppy’s nose. Connect the top of the “V” to make a triangle shape and color it in.
From the bottom of the nose, draw a short line going down. Then, make an upside-down “V” shape around the nose and connect it back down. Finish the mouth with a curve underneath.
Draw two circles for the eyes, one on each side of the nose. Make sure they are the same size. Add a tiny circle or oval in the top left of each eye for a shiny spot, and color in the rest of the eyes, leaving the shiny spot white.
Draw a curve over the eyes to make the top of the head. Stop just above each eye. Then, draw two curves coming down from the head, leaving a little space on each side.
French Bulldogs have big ears! Draw a curve going out and up to the left for one ear, then curve back down with a small bump at the end. Do the same on the right side for the other ear.
Inside each ear, draw a smaller shape like the ear you just made, connecting it back to the top.
To make your puppy look cute, draw a couple of small wrinkles above the nose.
From the bottom of the head, draw short, curved lines for the puppy’s arms sticking out of the stocking. Make sure they look the same on both sides.
Draw a line connecting the two arms together. Then, outline the stocking, imagining it going behind the arms. Draw a fluffy curve at the top of the stocking, connecting it between the paws.
Continue drawing the stocking by making a curve that goes down and out to the side. Add patches to the stocking by drawing curves with corners, and include little stitches to hold the patches in place.
Now that your drawing is done, it’s time to add color! Use any colors you like to make your puppy and stocking look lively and fun.
Great job! You’ve drawn a cute puppy in a Christmas stocking. Remember, every drawing is special, and the most important thing is to practice and have fun. Happy drawing!
Puppy Observation Walk: Take a walk around your neighborhood or visit a local park with an adult. Look for different types of dogs and observe their features. Notice the shape of their noses, ears, and eyes. When you return, draw a picture of your favorite dog you saw and compare it to the puppy you drew in the Christmas stocking. What are the similarities and differences?
Stocking Design Challenge: Gather some paper, scissors, and coloring tools. Design your own Christmas stocking by cutting out a stocking shape from the paper. Decorate it with your favorite colors, patterns, and drawings. Think about what you would like to find in your stocking on Christmas morning and draw those items inside the stocking. Share your design with your classmates or family.
Story Time with Your Drawing: Create a short story about the puppy you drew in the Christmas stocking. Where did the puppy come from? How did it end up in the stocking? What adventures does it have? Write down your story or tell it to a friend or family member. You can even act it out with your drawing as the main character!
