Spring is a magical time when flowers bloom and animals come out to play. Let’s celebrate by drawing some cute spring animals! Today, we’ll learn how to draw a baby lamb and a duckling. Grab your paper and markers, and let’s have some fun!
Before we start, make sure you have these materials:
1. Draw a “V” shape in the middle of your paper for the lamb’s nose.
2. Turn the “V” into a “Y” shape.
3. Draw two circles for the eyes, one on each side of the nose.
4. Add a tiny circle inside each eye to make them sparkle. Color the big circles, but leave the tiny ones white.
1. Draw a big “U” shape around the nose for the head. It’s okay if it doesn’t touch the nose.
2. Add a smile under the nose for the mouth.
1. Draw a curve going up and down on both sides of the head for the ears.
2. Connect the tops of the ears with a curved line.
1. Draw a bumpy line on top of the head for the wool.
2. Imagine the wool going behind the ears and draw more bumpy lines of different sizes to connect back to the other ear.
1. Draw two “U” shapes next to each other for the front legs.
2. Draw partial “U” shapes behind the front legs for the back legs.
3. Add little lines on each foot to show the toes.
1. Draw a “U” shape for the duckling’s beak.
2. Add a small curve on top for the beak’s top and draw nostrils at the top.
1. Draw a curve from the beak that goes up high and then back down to the other side of the beak.
1. Draw a curve from the head to connect to the lamb’s wool.
2. Do the same on the other side to finish the body.
1. Draw a curve that comes out and then back in on both sides of the body for the wings.
Now it’s time to color your drawings! You can use any colors you like. You can also add flowers like tulips or more baby animals in the background.
Great job! You’ve drawn a cute baby lamb and a duckling. We hope you had fun and enjoy coloring your drawings. Have a wonderful spring and happy drawing!
Animal Observation Walk: Take a walk in your garden or a nearby park with an adult. Look for animals that remind you of the baby lamb and duckling you drew. Can you spot any birds, ducks, or other small animals? Try to notice their colors, shapes, and movements. When you get back, draw one of the animals you saw and add it to your spring animal collection.
Create a Spring Story: Use your drawings of the baby lamb and duckling to create a short story. What adventures do they go on during spring? Do they meet other animals? Write a few sentences about their day and draw a picture to go with each part of your story. Share your story with a family member or friend.
Color Mixing Experiment: Use your coloring supplies to explore how different colors can be mixed to create new ones. Try mixing colors to find the perfect shade for your lamb’s wool or the duckling’s feathers. What happens when you mix yellow and blue? Or red and white? Experiment with different combinations and use your new colors in your drawings.
