Memorial Day is a special day when we remember the brave people who have served our country. To celebrate, let’s have some fun by drawing a star! Follow these easy steps to create your own star drawing.
Before we start, make sure you have these materials:
First, we need to draw a circle. Place your bowl or plate upside down on the paper. Hold it steady and trace around it with your pencil. Press lightly so you can erase it later if needed.
Now that you have a circle, let’s add some guide points to help us draw the star. Make a small mark at the top of the circle. Then, add marks on the left and right sides. Try to space them evenly.
It’s time to draw the star! Start at the bottom of the circle and draw a line up to the top mark. Then, draw a line from the top to the left mark, and from the left to the right mark. Keep connecting the points until you have a star shape. If it looks uneven, adjust it a bit. Erase the circle lines inside the star when you’re happy with it.
To make your star look more interesting, add some extra lines. Draw lines from the top point to the center and do the same for the other points. These lines should meet in the middle of the star. You can curve them a little if you like.
Use your marker to trace the outer lines of your star. Stop at the center point. Then, use your pencil to fill the star with smaller stars. You can let them overlap for a cool effect.
Now, let’s add some color! Color one side of the star with red and white stripes, like the American flag. Color the other side blue, and leave the smaller stars white.
For extra sparkle, use a white colored pencil to add highlights. When you’re done, you can cut out your star and use it as a decoration.
Great job on your star drawing! We hope you had fun and found a special way to celebrate Memorial Day. Happy drawing, and we can’t wait to see what you create next!
Star Hunt: Go on a star hunt around your home or neighborhood. Look for star shapes in everyday objects, like decorations, patterns on clothes, or even in nature. Draw or take pictures of the stars you find and share them with your class. Discuss how stars are used in different places and what they might represent.
Create a Starry Sky: Using black or dark blue construction paper, create a night sky filled with stars. Cut out different sizes of stars from white or yellow paper and glue them onto the dark paper. Try to make patterns or constellations. You can even use glow-in-the-dark stickers to make your sky shine at night!
Story Time with Stars: Think about a time when you felt brave like the people we remember on Memorial Day. Draw a picture of yourself as a star, showing your bravery. Write a short story or a few sentences about what made you feel brave and share it with your family or friends.
