Drawing is super fun, especially when we draw cute animals like elephants! Today, we will learn how to draw an elephant step by step. So, grab your crayons and paper, and let’s get started!
Before we start, make sure you have these things ready:
First, let’s draw a circle on the left side of your paper. This will be the elephant’s eye. Once you draw the circle, color it in.
Elephants have big ears! Next to the eye, draw a backwards letter “C” to make the ear. Make it big and fun!
Now, let’s draw the forehead. Start in front of the eye and draw a line that goes down and forward. Elephants have long noses called trunks. Draw a line that comes down and curves up at the end to make the trunk.
Finish the trunk by drawing a short line out to the side. Then, curve it back up from the end of the line you just drew.
Next, let’s draw the elephant’s body and legs. Draw a curve coming down from the trunk. Then, draw a straight line across for the bottom of the foot. Draw a short line going up, and then another line for the belly that matches the leg’s curve.
Do the same to draw the back leg, curving it up towards the top of the ear.
Let’s give your elephant a happy smile! Draw a little smile just below the trunk. Imagine your elephant is munching on a peanut!
Now, it’s time to color! Use gray for the elephant’s body. If you only have one gray crayon, remember to share and color carefully.
Oops! Did we forget the tail? Draw a line coming down from the back of the elephant and finish it with a small oval at the end.
Make your drawing even more fun by adding a background. You can draw trees, grass, or even baby elephants. Think about what your elephant might like, like leaves or peanuts!
Yay! You’ve drawn and colored a cute elephant. We hope you had lots of fun. Remember, every drawing is special, so let your creativity shine. Happy drawing!
Elephant Safari Adventure: Go on a mini safari in your backyard or a nearby park! Look for things that remind you of an elephant. Can you find something big like an elephant’s ear or something long like its trunk? Draw or collect these items and share them with your class.
Elephant Ear Experiment: Elephants have big ears to help them stay cool. Try this experiment: Take two pieces of paper, one big and one small. Wave them in front of your face. Which one feels cooler? Talk about why elephants might have big ears and how it helps them in the wild.
Elephant Story Time: Imagine your elephant is going on an adventure. Where would it go? What would it see? Draw a picture of your elephant in a new place and tell a story about its adventure. Share your story with a friend or family member!
