How to Draw a Fun Ice Cream Cone: A Step-by-Step Guide

Let’s have some fun drawing a yummy ice cream cone with lots of scoops! Get your paper, markers, and coloring tools ready, and let’s begin!

Materials Needed

  • A sheet of paper
  • A marker
  • Coloring materials (like crayons or colored pencils)
  • An extra sheet of paper (to keep your table clean)

Step 1: Prepare Your Paper

First, fold your paper in half. Bring the top edge down to meet the bottom edge and press to make a line in the middle. This will help you know where to draw your ice cream.

Step 2: Draw the First Scoop

Open your paper and look at the top part. Draw an upside-down “U” shape in the center. This will be your first scoop of ice cream. Make it big and yummy!

Then, draw a wavy line at the bottom of the scoop to make it look like real ice cream. Connect the ends of the “U” with this line.

Step 3: Create the Cone

Now, let’s draw the cone. Draw a curved “V” shape starting from the bottom of the scoop down to the paper. This is your ice cream cone.

To make the cone look real, draw some slanted lines across it. You can also draw lines going the other way to make a crisscross pattern.

Step 4: Add a Funny Face

Give your ice cream some personality! Draw two circles for eyes on the top scoop. Add smaller circles inside for sparkle and maybe some eyelashes. Draw a happy mouth with a little tongue sticking out. Make it as funny as you like!

Step 5: Expand Your Ice Cream Tower

Time for more scoops! Open your paper all the way and draw more scoops. Start with a wavy line for the bottom of each scoop, then draw curves on each side to make the scoop shape. Leave space for each scoop to sit nicely on top of the cone.

Step 6: Add More Faces

As you draw each scoop, give them funny faces! Try different expressions—some with closed eyes, some with big smiles, or even a grumpy face for the bottom scoop. The more fun, the better!

Step 7: Color Your Ice Cream

Now it’s time to color your ice cream! Pick your favorite colors for each scoop. Add sprinkles or other toppings to make it extra special.

Conclusion

After coloring, your ice cream should look bright and tasty! When you fold the paper back up, the top and bottom scoops should match in color, making it look complete.

We hope you loved this drawing activity and that your ice cream cone looks amazing! Happy drawing, and see you next time!

  • What is your favorite flavor of ice cream, and how would you draw it as a scoop on your cone? Can you think of any fun toppings you would add?
  • If you could give your ice cream scoops different personalities, what kinds of faces would you draw on them? Why do you think those faces would be fun?
  • Have you ever seen or eaten an ice cream cone with lots of scoops? How many scoops do you think you could stack before it gets too tall? What colors would you use to make each scoop unique?
  1. Ice Cream Flavor Hunt: Go on a flavor hunt in your kitchen! With the help of an adult, find different items that remind you of ice cream flavors. For example, a banana could remind you of banana ice cream, or chocolate chips could remind you of chocolate ice cream. Draw a new scoop on your ice cream cone for each flavor you find and color it to match the flavor. How many different scoops can you add to your cone?

  2. Ice Cream Cone Patterns: Look around your home or classroom for patterns similar to the crisscross pattern on your ice cream cone. You might find them on a basket, a piece of clothing, or even a chair. Draw these patterns on a new sheet of paper and see if you can create your own unique cone pattern. What other patterns can you think of?

  3. Story Time with Ice Cream: Imagine each scoop of your ice cream cone has a story to tell. With a friend or family member, create a short story about your ice cream cone. What adventures do the scoops go on? Do they have names? Share your story with the class or your family. How do the different faces on your scoops change the story?
