Today, we’re going to learn how to draw Bing Dwen Dwen, the cute panda mascot from the Beijing Winter Olympics. Get your markers and paper ready, and let’s have some fun drawing!
Start by drawing a big oval shape. This will be Bing Dwen Dwen’s body. Imagine you’re drawing a big egg shape. Begin at the top, curve around, and connect back to where you started.
Now, let’s draw the face. In the middle of the oval, a little towards the top, draw a “V” shape for the nose. Then, curve around to make a smile under the nose.
Draw two ovals on each side of the face for the eyes. Inside each oval, draw a smaller oval for the pupil and a tiny circle at the top for a shiny spot. Color the bottom part of the pupils, but leave the tiny circle white to make the eyes look cute.
Let’s add some panda spots around the eyes. Draw a shape that goes over each eye, curves down, and connects back up. Do this for both eyes.
Draw the ears by making upside-down “U” shapes on top of the head. These will be Bing Dwen Dwen’s ears.
For the left arm, draw another upside-down “U” shape to make it look like Bing Dwen Dwen is waving. For the right arm, draw a raindrop shape pointing down.
Draw two straight lines coming down from the middle for the legs. Curve around to make the feet and connect back up to finish the legs.
Now, let’s draw Bing Dwen Dwen’s ice suit. Start near the ear and trace around the whole panda, leaving a little space between the panda and the outline. Make sure to go around the legs and arms too.
Draw an oval shape around the face for the opening of the ice suit. Start under the chin, go around the eye, and connect back to where you started.
To finish the drawing, draw a heart on one of the panda’s paws. You can do this by drawing a “V” for the bottom and two bumps on top.
Now that you’ve finished the outline, it’s time to color Bing Dwen Dwen! Use your markers or any coloring materials you have. You can add your own creative touches, like the Beijing Olympic logo on his belly or extra colors on his ice suit.
Great job! You’ve drawn Bing Dwen Dwen. We hope you had fun and that your drawing looks awesome. You can even add more fun things to your drawing, like Bing Dwen Dwen skiing or ice skating. Keep drawing and have fun!
Explore Panda Habitats: Take a moment to learn more about where real pandas live. With a parent or teacher, look up pictures of panda habitats online or in a book. Discuss what you see in these pictures. What do pandas eat? What kind of environment do they live in? Draw a picture of a panda in its natural habitat and share it with your class.
Color Mixing Experiment: Bing Dwen Dwen is a colorful character! Try mixing different colors to see what new colors you can create. Use paint or colored pencils to mix primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and discover what happens. Can you make a color that matches Bing Dwen Dwen’s ice suit? Share your findings with a friend or family member.
Create Your Own Mascot: Imagine you are designing a mascot for a new event. What animal would you choose and why? Draw your mascot and give it a name. Think about what makes your mascot special and write a short story about its adventures. Share your drawing and story with your class or family.
