How to Draw a Badger: A Fun Guide

Drawing is a super fun way to be creative, especially when you have a friend to join in! Let’s learn how to draw a cute badger together. Grab your drawing tools, and let’s get started!

What You Need

Before we start, make sure you have these supplies:

  • Markers or colored pencils
  • Paper
  • A friend to color with

Step 1: Draw the Nose

Begin by drawing a small “U” shape in the middle of your paper. This is the start of the badger’s nose. Then, draw an oval on top of the “U” to finish the nose. Color it in, but leave a tiny spot white to make it look shiny.

Step 2: Add the Eyes

Next, let’s draw the eyes. Make two circles, one on each side of the nose. Inside each circle, draw a smaller oval in the top left corner. Color the big circle, leaving the small oval white to make the eyes sparkle.

Step 3: Shape the Head

To make the badger’s head, draw a big curve from one side of the nose to the other, like a big smile. Add chubby cheeks by drawing curves that go out and then back in on both sides.

Step 4: Draw the Ears

At the top of the head, draw two upside-down “U” shapes for the ears. Badgers have special face patterns, so draw a line from the top of each eye downwards. Then, make a curve on each side to show the stripes on the face.

Step 5: Complete the Head

Inside each ear, draw a smaller “U” shape for the inner ear. Now, your badger’s head is all done!

Step 6: Draw the Body

For the body, draw a curve coming down from each side of the head. Then, draw the arms starting near the chin and curving down. Leave a little space at the bottom.

Step 7: Add the Front Legs

Continue by curving around to finish the front legs. Try to make both arms look the same size. Add two small lines at the end of each arm for fingers.

Step 8: Draw the Back Legs

Now, let’s draw the back legs. Start with a curve that goes up and connects to the body, then curve around to meet the front leg. Do this on both sides, making sure the lines are a bit higher for balance.

Step 9: Complete the Feet and Tail

Draw small ovals at the bottom of each leg for the feet. Finally, add a short tail on the side, connecting it with a zigzag line back to the foot.

Step 10: Color Your Badger

Great job! You’ve drawn a badger. Now it’s time to color it. Use markers or colored pencils. For rosy cheeks and feet, pink works well. If you have the same markers we used, try warm light gray and darker gray for shading.

Final Touches

To finish your drawing, think about adding a background. This will make your artwork even more special.

We hope you had fun drawing your badger! Happy drawing!

  • What was your favorite part of drawing the badger, and why did you like it? Can you think of other animals you would like to draw using similar steps?
  • Have you ever seen a real badger or a picture of one? How do you think drawing a badger is different from seeing one in real life?
  • When you draw with a friend, how does it make the experience different or more fun? Can you think of other activities you enjoy doing with friends?
  1. Badger Observation Walk: Take a walk in your neighborhood or a nearby park with a grown-up. Look for animals or pictures of animals that have patterns like the badger’s stripes. Can you find any other animals with unique patterns? Draw a picture of one of these animals when you get home and compare it to your badger drawing.
  2. Create a Badger Story: Use your imagination to create a short story about your badger. Where does it live? What adventures does it go on? Draw a picture of your badger in its habitat and share your story with a friend or family member.
  3. Color Mixing Experiment: Use your markers or colored pencils to experiment with mixing colors. Try to create different shades of gray for your badger. What happens when you mix different colors together? Can you make a new color for your badger’s background? Share your findings with your class or family.
