Let’s Draw a Folding Surprise Frankenstein!

Are you ready for a fun art project? Today, we’re going to make a cool drawing of Frankenstein that has a surprise when you open it! When you unfold the paper, you’ll see Frankenstein’s brain getting zapped with electricity. Let’s gather our supplies and get started!

What You’ll Need

  • Markers
  • Paper
  • Crayons or colored pencils
  • Extra paper to protect your table

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Fold Your Paper

First, take your paper and fold it in half by bringing the top edge down to meet the bottom edge. Press down to make a crease. Then, fold the top part back up to the top edge and crease it again. Flip the paper over and do the same fold. Open the last fold so your paper can open like a book.

Step 2: Protect Your Table

Put a piece of extra paper under your drawing paper. This will keep your table safe from any marker marks.

Step 3: Draw Frankenstein’s Face

Let’s start drawing Frankenstein’s face! Draw a big “U” shape for his nose just below the middle fold. Add a small “C” on the left and a backward “C” on the right for his nostrils. Draw two circles for his eyes, one on each side of the nose, and add smaller circles inside for the pupils. For his mouth, draw a straight line under the nose and add lines on the sides for his cheeks. Draw two “U” shapes for his teeth.

Step 4: Make His Head

Start from the left side of the fold and draw a line down for the side of his head. Draw a line across for his chin and then back up to the fold. Extend the head shape up past the fold and connect the lines at the top. Draw a zigzag line for his hair, making some zigzags big and some small.

Step 5: Add More Details

Draw a “C” shape next to the left eye for an ear and a backward “C” next to the right eye. Add curves inside the ears and draw bolts sticking out from his neck. Draw a line across his forehead for the stitch line where his head opens. Add short lines across the fold to make it look stitched.

Step 6: Draw the Brain

Open the paper and flatten it out. In the middle, draw a bumpy oval shape for the brain. You can add a face to the brain with eyes and a mouth, and maybe even a tongue sticking out!

Step 7: Add Electricity

Draw zigzag lines coming from the brain to the corners of the paper, making sure they stay below the fold. Connect the zigzag lines at the bottom and top to make it look complete. Add curves to make the head look more real.

Step 8: Final Touches

Draw lines that match the stitch line inside the brain. Finish your drawing by adding any extra details you like.

Color Your Drawing

Now it’s time to color your drawing! Use your favorite colors and have fun making it look awesome. You can add extra details or color it however you like.

Conclusion

Great job on your folding surprise Frankenstein! We hope you had a blast making this project. Remember, you can always add your own special touches to make it unique. Have a happy and safe Halloween, and we can’t wait to see you in our next art adventure!

  • What was your favorite part of drawing the folding surprise Frankenstein, and why did you like it the most?
  • Can you think of other characters or creatures you would like to create with a folding surprise? What would their surprise be?
  • Have you ever seen a Frankenstein or a similar character in a book or movie? How was it different or similar to the one you drew?
  1. Frankenstein’s Friends: Think about other characters that could have a fun surprise when you unfold the paper. Draw a new character, like a ghost or a pumpkin, and create your own folding surprise. What happens when you open the paper? Does the ghost have a funny face, or does the pumpkin have a secret inside?

  2. Electricity Hunt: Go on a hunt around your home or classroom to find things that use electricity. Make a list or draw pictures of the items you find, like a lamp, a TV, or a computer. Discuss with a friend or family member how these items work and why electricity is important.

  3. Color Mixing Magic: Use your crayons or colored pencils to mix colors and create new ones. Try mixing blue and yellow to see what color you get. Experiment with different combinations and use these new colors to add extra details to your Frankenstein drawing. What happens when you mix red and blue? Or yellow and red?
