Today, we’re going to learn how to draw Grooky, a cute grass-type Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Shield. Grab your paper, markers, and coloring tools, and let’s have some fun!
First, let’s start with Grooky’s face. Draw a small oval in the middle of your paper for his nose. Add a happy smile by drawing a curve right under the nose, and then a U-shape below that. Don’t forget his teeth! Draw tiny U-shapes on each side of the smile, and a curve for his tongue.
Next, let’s draw his eyes. Make two big ovals, one on each side of his nose. Inside each eye, draw a smaller oval for the iris, and an even smaller oval for the shiny part. Color the pupils black.
Now, let’s outline Grooky’s head. Draw an upside-down V shape above his nose for his forehead. Then, draw a big curve around his face to make the shape of his head, connecting it back to the nose. Do this on both sides.
To make Grooky look special, draw leaves on top of his head. Start at the point above the V and draw a curved V shape going left and right. Connect these curves back to his head.
For Grooky’s ears, draw a curve above each eye that looks like a leaf. Make sure both ears look the same. Inside each ear, draw a line to show the middle of the leaf.
Now, let’s draw Grooky’s body. Start with a curve under his chin for his front arms. Leave space for the inside of his arms by drawing a similar curve on both sides.
Draw his thumbs using small U-shapes on each arm, and then add four fingers on each hand with connected U-shapes.
To draw Grooky’s back legs, make an upside-down U-shape that connects to his hands. Do this on both sides so he looks like he’s sitting. Add some toes by drawing small shapes at the bottom of each leg.
Finally, draw Grooky’s tail. Make a big curve coming out from the left side of his body, and then a C shape that connects back to his body.
Great job! You’ve finished drawing Grooky! Now it’s time to color him in. Use your markers or any coloring tools you have. You can even add shading with a gray marker if you want. For extra fun, draw a background like a grassy field where Grooky can play.
We hope you had a blast drawing Grooky! Remember, the more you practice, the better you’ll get. Feel free to draw him again or add your own creative touches. Happy drawing!
Leaf Hunt Adventure: Go on a nature walk with a family member or friend and collect different types of leaves. Once you have a collection, compare them to the leaves on Grooky’s head. How are they similar or different? Try drawing Grooky again, but this time, use one of the real leaves you found as a model for his head. This will help you see how nature can inspire art!
Create Your Own Pokémon: Imagine a new Pokémon that could be Grooky’s friend. Think about what type it would be (like grass, water, or fire) and what special features it might have. Draw your new Pokémon and give it a name. Share your drawing with your classmates or family and explain why you chose those features.
Color Mixing Experiment: Use your coloring tools to explore how different colors can be mixed to create new shades. Try mixing colors to find the perfect shade of green for Grooky’s body. What happens when you mix blue and yellow? Can you create a lighter or darker green by adding white or black? This activity will help you understand how colors work together.
