Let’s Draw Mulan Together!

Drawing is super fun and lets you be creative! Today, we’re going to learn how to draw Mulan. So, grab your markers, paper, and coloring tools, and let’s get started!

Step 1: Draw Mulan’s Face

Nose: Start by drawing a small curve in the middle of your paper. This will be Mulan’s nose.

Eyes: Draw two circles for her eyes. Make sure they are the same size! Inside each eye, add a tiny circle at the top for a shiny spot. Color the big circles, but leave the tiny ones white.

Mouth: Draw a little smile under her nose.

Step 2: Outline Her Head and Hair

Head Shape: Draw a big U-shape from one side of the paper to the other. This will be her head.

Hair: Start her hair by drawing a point above her nose and to the right. Then, make an S-curve that goes down and touches the side of her head. Do the same on the other side.

Ears: Draw an ear on each side of her head.

Forehead and Hair Thickness: Add a small S-curve in the middle of her forehead. Then, draw another S-curve from the bottom to make her hair look fuller.

Step 3: Add Details to Her Hair

Top of the Head: Draw an upside-down U shape for the top of her head.

Bun: Make a bigger upside-down U shape for her bun. Add a small curve for the ribbon that ties her hair.

Flower: Draw a lily shape that looks like a football or leaf. Add a couple of smaller flowers next to it.

Step 4: Draw Mulan’s Dress

Body: Draw lines going down from her chin on both sides to make her dress. Connect these lines with a curve at the bottom.

Dress Details: Add lines across the top of her body and some curves to show her dress’s collar.

Step 5: Add Arms and Hands

Arms: Draw diagonal lines close to her body and connect them at the bottom. Do this for both arms.

Hands: Add small curves at the end of each arm for her hands.

Step 6: Finalize Hair and Add Features

Complete Hair: On the left side, draw a curve that starts outside her hair and curves in towards her body. On the right side, make a bigger curve that connects to her body.

Eyelashes: Add two little eyelashes to each eye, or more if you like!

Step 7: Color Your Drawing

Now that you’ve finished drawing Mulan, it’s time to add some color! Use your markers and colored pencils to make your drawing bright and lively. Take your time to match the colors you like.

Conclusion

Great job on drawing Mulan! Remember, it’s okay if your drawing looks a bit different. The most important thing is to have fun and keep practicing. Happy drawing, and we hope to see you drawing again soon!

  • What was your favorite part about drawing Mulan, and why did you like it the most?
  • Can you think of a time when you had to follow steps to create something? How did it make you feel when you finished?
  • If you could draw any other character or thing, what would it be and what colors would you use?
  1. Explore Facial Expressions: Try drawing Mulan with different facial expressions. How would her eyes and mouth change if she were surprised, happy, or sad? Draw at least three different expressions and share them with your friends or family. Discuss how small changes in the drawing can show different emotions.

  2. Nature Walk and Observation: Go on a nature walk with a family member or friend and look for flowers that resemble the lily shape you drew in Mulan’s hair. Take a picture or draw the flowers you find. Discuss how nature can inspire art and how you can use these shapes in your own drawings.

  3. Create Your Own Character: Use the steps you learned to create your own character. Think about what kind of hairstyle, clothes, and accessories your character might have. Draw your character and give them a name and a short story. Share your creation with the class and explain your character’s unique features.
