Did you know that March 10th is a special day for Mario fans? It’s called Mario Day because when you write “Mar” for March and add “10,” it looks like “Mario”! To celebrate, let’s learn how to draw Paper Mario. Grab your markers and paper, and let’s have some fun!
First, draw a “C” shape in the middle of your paper, a little bit towards the top. This will be Mario’s nose. Make the “C” a bit rounder by closing it slightly.
Next, draw an oval for Mario’s left eye behind the nose and color it in. Then, draw a bigger oval for the right eye, not covered by the nose, and color it too.
From the nose, draw a curve going up near the eye. Then, connect three “U” shapes below to make the mustache, and finish with one more “U” shape.
For Mario’s mouth, draw a tall “U” shape that dips down and back up. Inside, add a small curve for the tongue. Below the mouth, draw another “U” shape for his chin.
On the side of the face, draw a backward “C” for the ear, about the same size as the nose. Inside the ear, draw a forward “C” and a small line like the letter “E.”
Above the nose, draw a small line in front of the eyes to show the forehead.
Draw the visor of Mario’s hat, curving out and back down near the ear. Then, draw a big curve for the top of the hat, making sure it doesn’t touch the ear.
Draw a circle on the front of the hat, leaving it open at the bottom for the “M” later.
From the hat, draw two curves going out and connect them with a backward “3.”
For Mario’s left arm, draw a sideways “U” shape. At the end, sketch a curve for the hand. Add a sideways “U” for the thumb and finish the hand with a curve for a fist. Add two raindrop shapes on the glove for detail.
From the chin, draw a big half-circle connecting to the hand. For the overalls, draw a smaller half-circle next to the arm, connecting to the wrist. Below the chin, draw a square “U” shape for the belly and add two circles for the yellow buttons.
Draw the other arm as if Mario is ready to punch. Draw a diagonal line from the chest, then add the glove and thumb, connecting it back to the nose.
For the left leg, draw a “U” shape under the fist. Then, draw the shoe’s bottom with a little bump. For the right foot, start from the button and draw an upside-down “U,” then add the heel and shoe’s bottom.
Now that your drawing is done, it’s time to add color! Use your favorite colors to bring Mario to life. Don’t forget to add a little curve for his hair below the ear and color it brown.
Great job! You’ve drawn Paper Mario. Remember, coloring makes your drawing special, so take your time to make it bright and colorful. We hope you had fun creating your Mario masterpiece. Happy Mario Day!
Mario Observation Walk: Take a walk around your home or neighborhood and look for things that remind you of Mario. It could be colors, shapes, or even objects that look like parts of Mario’s outfit. For example, a red cap, a big “M” shape, or a mustache. Draw or take pictures of what you find and share them with your class.
Create Your Own Character: Use the steps you learned to draw Mario and create your own character. Think about what makes your character special. Does it have a unique hat or a fun mustache? Draw your character and give it a name. Share your drawing with your classmates and explain what makes your character unique.
Mario Story Time: Imagine a day in the life of Mario. What adventures does he go on? Write a short story or draw a comic strip showing Mario’s day. Include some of the things you learned about drawing Mario, like his hat or mustache, in your story. Share your story with your family or friends and see what adventures they think Mario would have!
