What is Pokémon?

Did you know there are more than 450 Pokémon? Pokémon are amazing creatures with special powers. You can learn about them in books that tell you their names, sizes, and what they can do!

Step 1: Drawing Squirtle’s Head

1. Draw the Head: Start by drawing a circle at the top left of your paper. This is Squirtle’s head.

2. Add a Smile: Draw a curved line near the bottom of the circle for his mouth.

3. Create the Mouth Shape: Add a small point in the middle of the mouth and draw the sides like a little beak.

4. Draw the Tongue: Inside the mouth, draw two lines for Squirtle’s tongue.

5. Add Nostrils: Place two tiny dots above the mouth for his nostrils.

Step 2: Drawing the Eyes

1. Outline the Eyes: Draw short lines on each side of the head for the bottom of the eyes.

2. Complete the Eyes: Make an upside-down “U” shape for the top of each eye.

3. Add Pupils: Inside each eye, draw a curved line for the pupil and a small oval for the light reflection.

Step 3: Adding Facial Features

1. Draw Eyebrows: Give Squirtle some fierce eyebrows above his eyes.

2. Finish the Face: Check to make sure everything looks great before moving on.

Step 4: Sketching the Arms and Body

1. Draw the Arms: Start with a diagonal line for the first arm, then make a backward “J” shape to connect it to the body.

2. Outline the Body: Draw a big curved line for Squirtle’s belly, stopping just below the arm.

3. Add the Legs: Draw short lines for the legs, making them a bit longer than the arms.

Step 5: Detailing the Shell and Tail

1. Draw the Shell: Make two lines that curve down from the back for the shell.

2. Add the Tail: Draw a curved line that spirals out from Squirtle’s back.

Step 6: Adding Details to the Shell

1. Design the Shell: Draw a curved line under the chin and add “V” shapes for the shell’s design.

2. Split the Shell: Draw a line down the middle of the shell design to finish it.

Step 7: Final Touches

1. Outline with a Marker: Once you’re happy with your drawing, go over the lines with a marker to make them bold.

2. Coloring: Use pale blue and pale green for Squirtle’s skin, lemon yellow for the belly, and shades of brown for the shell. Don’t forget to color the eyes and tongue!
