Finally, they are encouraged to add color and personal touches to make the artwork special before gifting it to their dad on Father’s Day.
  1. What are some special things you can add to your drawing to make it look like your dad?
  2. How can you use colors to show what your dad looks like?
  3. Why do you think drawing a picture for your dad is a nice way to celebrate Father’s Day?

Celebrate Father’s Day by Drawing Super Dad

Father’s Day is coming soon, and a great way to celebrate is by drawing your very own “Super Dad”! This fun activity lets you make a special picture that looks like your dad. So, grab your markers, paper, and coloring tools, and let’s start drawing!

Step 1: Draw the Eyes

First, draw two circles in the middle of your paper for your dad’s eyes. Leave a little space between them. Inside each circle, draw a smaller circle and color the bigger circle, leaving the smaller one white. This makes the eyes look shiny!

Step 2: Add the Eyebrows and Head

Next, draw a circle around each eye for the colored part. Above each eye, draw an upside-down “U” for the eyebrows. Now, draw the head by making a shape that goes down from the eyes, curves under the chin, and back up on the other side.

Step 3: Create Facial Features

If your dad has a beard, draw a “U” shape under one eye, then curve it between the eyes and back down for the other side. If not, you can skip this part. For the mustache, draw an upside-down “U” and add a smile below it.

Step 4: Draw the Hair and Ears

To draw the hair, start with a curve over the eyes, then add a zigzag line for texture. Draw a “C” shape for one ear and a backward “C” for the other. Inside each ear, add a smaller “C” for detail.

Step 5: Sketch the Body

Now, let’s draw the body. Start with two diagonal lines coming down from the chin. Add a “W” shape for the cape tied around the neck. For the legs, draw two longer lines going down. Don’t forget to add a belt by drawing two lines across the waist.

Step 6: Add the Arms

To draw the arms, make a sideways “V” shape from the body, with fists on the waist. Add curves for the forearms and biceps, and draw sleeves on the shirt.

Step 7: Complete the Cape

Draw a diagonal line from one shoulder for the cape, and connect it with a wavy line to the other side.

Step 8: Color Your Drawing

Now that your Super Dad is drawn, it’s time to add color! Use colors that match your dad’s features, like his skin tone and hair color. You can also change the shirt design to show his favorite sports team or food.

Final Touches

Add extra things in the background that your dad likes, like a lawnmower if he enjoys gardening. When you’re done, give your drawing to your dad on Father’s Day. He will love the special art you made just for him!

Happy drawing, and have fun celebrating your Super Dad!

  • What are some things that make your dad or a father figure in your life special to you? Can you think of a time when he did something that made you feel happy or proud?
  • If you could give your dad any superpower, what would it be and why? How do you think he would use it to help others or have fun?
  • Think about the activities or hobbies your dad enjoys. How can you include those in your drawing to make it even more special for him?
  1. Super Dad Story Time: After drawing your Super Dad, think about what makes him a superhero to you. Write a short story or draw a comic strip about an adventure you and your Super Dad might have together. What superpowers does he have? How does he help others? Share your story or comic with your class or family.

  2. Observation Walk: Take a walk around your neighborhood or home with a family member. Look for things that remind you of your dad or things he likes. Maybe it’s a car like the one he drives, a tool he uses, or a place he enjoys visiting. Draw or take pictures of these items and create a collage or a mini-book titled “Things That Remind Me of My Dad.”

  3. Color Mixing Experiment: Use your coloring tools to explore how different colors can be mixed to match your dad’s features. Try mixing colors to find the perfect shade for his hair or skin tone. What happens when you mix red and yellow? How about blue and green? Create a color chart with your findings and use it to add more detail to your Super Dad drawing.
