Let’s have some fun drawing Yoshi, the friendly dinosaur from the Mario games! Grab your paper, markers, and coloring tools, and let’s get started on this creative adventure!
Start by drawing Yoshi’s nose. Make a big letter “C” shape, like a circle with an open side. Leave a little gap on the left for some detail. Add a small curve for Yoshi’s cheek to give him a happy look.
Next, let’s draw Yoshi’s nostrils. Make a small curve going down and another going up. Now, Yoshi’s face is starting to appear!
Place Yoshi’s eyes just to the right of the nostrils. Draw an oval shape that touches the top of the nose and color it in. Leave a little space and draw a taller oval for the other eye, then color it in too.
For the eyelids, start in the middle of each eye. Draw a curve that goes up and then back down, stopping before it reaches the cheek. Do this for both eyes to give Yoshi a friendly expression.
Draw a small bump coming down from the eye, then extend the cheek with a curve that connects to the bottom of the nose. For the mouth, draw another curve that goes up and out to the side of the cheek.
Now, let’s add the little spikes on the back of Yoshi’s head. Start above the eye and draw three curves that connect back in to form the spikes.
Let’s move on to Yoshi’s body. Draw the back of his neck with a “J” shape that curves down and back up. Then, sketch the shell on Yoshi’s back by making a curved shape like a saddle.
For Yoshi’s arm, draw a sideways “U” shape starting from the shell. Add the thumb by curving up and back down, then create another “U” shape for the rest of the arm, connecting it to the fist.
To form Yoshi’s belly, start from the arm and curve down to connect to the fist. Imagine the line continuing behind the fist and curving slightly.
Draw Yoshi’s shoe by sketching another “C” shape that curves up and touches the belly line. Add the top of the shoe with a curved line and draw the heel by extending down and connecting it to the bottom of the “C.”
For the other shoe, draw only part of it since it’s behind the first shoe. Repeat the same steps to create the bottom of this shoe.
Imagine the belly line continuing through the shoe and create the tail by curving up and connecting back into the shell. Draw the belly line coming down to connect to the arm, then imagine it going behind the arm and connecting to the tail.
For Yoshi’s other hand, draw the thumb first, curving up and back in. Then, create a sideways “U” shape for the finger and finish with a curve for the rest of the fingers.
Now that you’ve finished drawing Yoshi, it’s time to color! Yoshi is mostly green, but you can use any colors you like. You can also add a background or other characters to make your drawing even more exciting.
Great job! You’ve drawn Yoshi! Remember, you can make your drawing special by adding your own creative touches. Have fun and keep drawing!
Yoshi’s World Observation: Take a walk around your neighborhood or look out your window. Can you spot any shapes that remind you of Yoshi’s features? Maybe a tree looks like Yoshi’s nose, or a cloud resembles his cheek. Draw what you see and share your discoveries with your friends or family. This will help you see how shapes in the world can inspire your drawings!
Create Your Own Character: Using the steps you learned to draw Yoshi, try creating your own character! Start with a simple shape for the head, like a circle or square, and add features like eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Think about what makes your character special. Does it have spikes like Yoshi, or maybe long ears? Give your character a name and a story. Share your creation with the class!
Color Mixing Experiment: Yoshi is mostly green, but what if you want to create a new color for your character? Try mixing different colors using crayons or markers. What happens when you mix blue and yellow? How about red and white? Experiment with different combinations to see what new colors you can create. Use these colors to add a unique touch to your drawing!
