In today’s Storytime lesson, we celebrated the importance of being grateful for our bodies by reading “I Am Grateful for My Body” by Christine Madeleine Hyde. The lesson highlighted the various ways our bodies help us experience the world, encouraging children to appreciate and take care of themselves through play and healthy habits. We concluded by inviting everyone to return for more stories and to continue nurturing their well-being.
  1. What is something special your body can do that you are thankful for?
  2. How do you take care of your body every day?
  3. Can you think of a fun thing you like to do with your body?

Welcome to Storytime!

Hello, friends! How are you today? I am feeling very happy because the sun is shining bright, and my kids are playing outside. Did you get to play outside today? I hope it’s sunny and warm where you are!

Let’s Read a Book!

Today, we have a special book called “I Am Grateful for My Body” by Christine Madeleine Hyde. It has beautiful pictures by Natalie Jones. Are you ready to start?

Being Thankful for Our Bodies

Our bodies are amazing, and we can be thankful for all the things they help us do. Let’s see what we can be grateful for:

  • Eyes: We can see the shapes in the clouds. Thank you, eyes!
  • Mouth: We can say kind words to ourselves. Thank you, mouth!
  • Nose: We can smell yummy cookies baking. Thank you, nose!
  • Ears: We can hear our brother sing. Thank you, ears!
  • Legs: We can dance and stand tall. Thank you, legs!
  • Feet: We can kick a soccer ball. Thank you, feet!
  • Arms: We can give big hugs. Thank you, arms!
  • Heart: We can love others. Thank you, heart!
  • Hands: We can draw our favorite things. Thank you, hands!

Our bodies do so much for us every day. Isn’t that wonderful?

Take Care of Your Body

Let’s show our bodies some love! Go outside, play, and stay healthy. Remember to take care of your body because it helps you do so many fun things!

Thank You for Joining!

Thank you for reading with us today. If you liked this story, you can find the book to read again. We love sharing stories with you, so come back for more! Take care of yourself and your family. Bye-bye!

  1. What is your favorite thing to do with your body, like running, drawing, or playing? Why do you enjoy it?
  2. Can you think of a time when you were thankful for something your body helped you do? How did it make you feel?
  3. How do you take care of your body every day? Are there any fun activities you do to keep your body healthy and strong?
  1. Body Part Adventure: Go on a mini-adventure around your home or classroom. Find objects that you can use to explore each body part mentioned in the story. For example, use your eyes to find something colorful, your nose to smell a flower or a spice, and your ears to listen to a favorite song. Share with your friends or family what you discovered and how each body part helped you!

  2. Gratitude Drawing: Draw a picture of your favorite activity that you can do because of your amazing body. It could be dancing, playing a sport, or giving a hug. Use lots of colors and details to show how thankful you are for your body. Share your drawing with the class and explain why you chose that activity.

  3. Thankful Circle: Sit in a circle with your classmates or family. Take turns saying one thing you are grateful for about your body and why. For example, “I am thankful for my hands because they help me build with blocks.” This activity helps us appreciate all the wonderful things our bodies can do!
