Hello, friends! Today, we are going to read a fun story called “I Don’t Like Koala” by Sean Farrell. Are you ready? Let’s begin!
Have you ever seen a koala bear? They are super soft and cuddly! But guess what? Adam does not like his koala toy. He thinks koala is a little bit spooky because its eyes seem to follow him everywhere!
Every night, Adam gets ready for bed. He takes a bath, puts on his pajamas, and brushes his teeth. But there’s one thing he always tries to do—get rid of koala! Adam hides koala in different places, but every morning, koala is back on his pillow, closer than close!
Do you have a toy that you try to hide, but it always comes back? Adam’s parents tell him not to play with koala like that. They say he might miss koala if it’s gone!
One day, Adam takes koala on a big adventure. They walk up hills, around rocks, and through trees. When Adam thinks koala isn’t looking, he runs all the way home. But guess what? Koala is already there waiting for him!
That night, Adam thinks koala is not so bad after all. He makes sure koala is comfy and whispers, “I love koala,” right before he falls asleep. Sometimes, we just need to learn to love what we have, don’t we?
I hope you enjoyed the story “I Don’t Like Koala.” If you liked it, you can find the book and read it again. Don’t forget to come back for more fun stories. See you next time, bye!
Koala Adventure Map: Create a simple map of your home or classroom. Use stickers or drawings to mark different spots where Adam might have hidden Koala. Then, take a small stuffed animal or toy and hide it in one of those spots. Ask your friends or family to find it! This activity helps you understand how Adam felt when he tried to hide Koala and how Koala always found its way back.
My Special Toy Story: Think about a toy that is special to you. Draw a picture of it and write a short story about an adventure you and your toy could have, just like Adam and Koala. Share your story with your class or family. This will help you appreciate the special things you have and imagine fun adventures with them.
Feelings and Faces: Make different faces in the mirror to show how Adam might have felt at different parts of the story. Can you make a face that shows surprise, happiness, or even a little bit of fear? Talk about why Adam might have felt that way and how he learned to love Koala. This activity helps you understand emotions and how they can change over time.

Hi boys and girls! Welcome back to the Story Time Family. Today we have “I Don’t Like Koala” by Sean Farrell.
Have you ever seen a koala in real life? Have you ever touched one? They’re really soft!
Adam does not like koala. He thinks koala is terrible. Koala has eyes that seem to follow Adam everywhere he goes. Adam tries to explain to his parents, “I don’t like koala,” but they don’t understand.
Every night when it’s time for bed, Adam has the same routine: he takes a bath, puts on his pajamas, brushes his teeth, and tries to get rid of koala. Adam puts koala away in different places, but every morning when he wakes up, koala is always there on his pillow, closer than close.
Do you have a toy that you try to get rid of, but it always comes back?
Adam’s father says, “Don’t play with koala like that or you might lose him.” His mother adds, “Don’t leave koala behind; you know how you miss him.”
After snack time, Adam’s father says, “You must have loved your snack; you ate every bite.” Adam asks, “What snack?” and his father jokingly replies, “Oh, maybe it was koala.”
Adam is tired of koala. He takes koala on a long walk. They climb hills, walk around rocks, and wander among trees. When Adam is sure koala isn’t looking, he runs away among the trees, around the rocks, over the hills, all the way home.
But there is koala waiting for him. That night, as Adam gets ready for bed, he thinks there is nothing worse than koala. Koala has a face and paws that seem terrible, and eyes that watch him everywhere.
But maybe koala isn’t so terrible after all. Adam makes sure koala is comfortable and closer than close. Right before he goes to sleep, he whispers, “I love koala.”
Finally, koala gets the love he deserves from Adam. It’s what he has been looking for all along. Sometimes we just have to learn to love what we have, right?
