Hi there! Are you ready for a fun story? Today, we’re going to read about a little princess who doesn’t want to go to the hospital. Let’s see what happens!
Once upon a time, there was a little princess. She cried, “Oh no, I don’t want to go to the hospital! My nails hurt!”
The doctor said, “We need to help you feel better.” But the princess was scared. She didn’t want to go!
The doctor tried to cheer her up. “Hospitals can be nice,” he said. “You get candy and cards!”
The Queen, who had been to the hospital before, said, “It’s not so bad. You’ll meet new friends!”
The little princess still didn’t want to go, so she ran and hid. Everyone looked for her. “Where is the princess?” they asked.
They checked everywhere! In the trash can, on the roof, and even in the boats. But she was hiding in the attic!
Finally, they found her. The little princess had to go to the hospital. She was brave, and the doctor helped her feel better.
Afterward, the Queen said, “Now you can brush your teeth and tidy your room!”
The little princess felt so special at the hospital that she said, “I want to go back! They treated me like a princess!”
Everyone was happy and cheered for the brave little princess. “Hooray!” they said.
Thank you for joining story time! We hope you enjoyed the story about the little princess. Remember, hospitals can be nice places that help us feel better. See you next time!
Role-Playing Hospital Visit: Gather some toys and set up a pretend hospital in your classroom or at home. Let the children take turns being the doctor, nurse, and patient. Encourage them to use kind words and actions, just like the doctor and the Queen in the story. Ask them how they would make someone feel better if they were scared, just like the little princess.
Draw Your Hospital Adventure: Provide paper and crayons for the children to draw their own hospital adventure. Ask them to imagine what they would see and who they might meet at the hospital. Encourage them to include things that would make them feel special, like candy or cards, just like in the story. Afterward, let them share their drawings with the class and explain their adventure.
Discussion Time – Why Are Hospitals Important? Sit in a circle and discuss why hospitals are important. Ask questions like, “What do doctors and nurses do to help us?” and “How can we be brave like the little princess if we need to visit the hospital?” Encourage the children to share any personal experiences they have had with hospitals and how they felt during their visit.
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

[Music] Welcome to story time with the God Ankara Toby. Today’s book is “I Don’t Want to Go to the Hospital” by Tony Ross. Let’s get started!
Oh boy, I don’t want to go to the hospital! cried the little princess. “My nails hurt!”
“You’ve got to let the lump come out,” said the doctor.
“I’ll get it out,” said the general, drawing his sword.
“No wonder she’s upset,” said the doctor. “You can’t get something out with a sword.”
“Do they call it a cabinet in Britain?”
“No,” said the doctor. “It won’t come out. Her Majesty must go to the hospital.”
“No!” cried the princess. “I don’t want to go to the hospital!”
Yeah, no one wants to go to the hospital. Hospitals can be scary.
“It’s nice at the hospital,” said the doctor. “You’ll get candy and cards.”
“I don’t want to go,” said the princess.
“It’s nice at the hospital,” said the Queen, who had been there.
“I don’t want to go!”
“Princess, don’t be lured in by that stuffed animal! Climb up the tree as fast as you can!”
“Yes, higher up the tree where they can’t see you.”
“Do they call it a tree in Britain?”
“You’ll meet lots of new friends in the hospital,” said the Prime Minister.
“No! I don’t want to go to the hospital!” said the princess, and she ran out of the room.
“Where is the princess?” cried the Queen. “It’s time to go!”
“She’s not in her room. Send the maid!”
“She can’t fit in the pail!”
“Why are you looking there? It’s way too small! Look someplace else.”
“Do they call it a bin in Britain?”
“She’s not in the trash can,” said the cook.
“She’s not in any of my boats,” said the Admiral.
“What’s going on here?”
“Do they call it a boat in Britain?”
“She’s not on the roof,” said the season.
“She’s in the attic,” said the king.
“I don’t want to go to the hospital!”
“Send the princess!”
But the little princess had to go again.
“You don’t need it, buddy. It’s so long and pointy. This is not the place for a sword.”
“Do they call it a sword in Britain?”
Yeah, video great! And the lump came out of her nose.
“Now that you are better,” said the Queen, “you can brush your teeth, comb your hair, and tidy your room.”
“And now,” cried the princess, “I want my tonsils out!”
“That’s why,” said the Queen.
“I want to go back to the hospital,” said the little princess. “They treated me like a princess in there.”
“We salute you, little girl. Yes, we do. Well played!”
“Cheers!”
“Do they say cheers in Britain?”
They do!
“I don’t want to go to the hospital,” said the little princess.
Oh boy! Well, thanks for watching story time with Ryan the God and crank Toby. We’ll see you next time!
To celebrate a great book, I got you a present!
“What is it?”
“It’s a sword!”
“No sword!”
