Hello, friends! Today, we are going to enjoy a wonderful story called “I Know a Bear” by Mariana Ruiz Johnson. Are you ready? Let’s begin!
There is a special bear I know. He comes from a magical place called the Land of the Bears. This place is very far away, and the bear loves to tell me all about it.
In the Land of the Bears, breakfast is super yummy and sweet. There are beautiful trails to walk on, and the rivers are big and fun, just like bathtubs! The little bugs called gnats stay around for a long, long time.
The bear says this land is fast and full of wonders. But, he cannot go back there. So, every time I visit him, I listen closely to his stories about this amazing place.
Today, I had a special idea! I thought about all the things the bear told me and imagined what it would be like to visit the Land of the Bears.
Wasn’t that a sweet story? Thank you for joining us today! We hope you liked it. Remember, you can always come back for more stories. See you next time! Bye-bye!
Draw Your Own Land of the Bears: Imagine what the Land of the Bears looks like based on the story. Use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to draw your version of this magical place. Think about the yummy breakfasts, beautiful trails, and big rivers. Share your drawing with a friend and explain what each part of your picture represents.
Storytelling with a Stuffed Animal: Find a stuffed animal at home and pretend it is the bear from the story. Tell your family or friends a story about the Land of the Bears. What adventures does your bear have? What does it see and do? Use your imagination to make the story exciting and fun!
Nature Walk and Observation: Go on a short walk with an adult and look for things that remind you of the Land of the Bears. Can you find a trail, a river, or some bugs? Talk about how these things might be similar or different from what the bear described. Take a moment to appreciate the wonders of nature around you.
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

Hi everyone! Welcome to Story Time.
Today, we have “I Know a Bear” by Mariana Ruiz Johnson. Let’s check it out!
I know a bear who comes from far away, from a place he calls the Land of the Bears. He tells me that the breakfasts there are sweet, the trails are lush, and the rivers are like bathtubs. Gnats last for months and months.
This is what he tells me: the bear says that this place is both fast and wondrous, but he cannot go back there. That’s why each time I visit him, I listen carefully as he remembers.
Today, I had an idea!
