Digging Fun

“What should we play first?” asked Daddy squirrel.

“I know!” said little squirrel happily. He started digging with his little tail wagging. “Look, Daddy!”

“Great job!” said Daddy. But then, little squirrel got stuck!

“Help!” cried little squirrel. Daddy squirrel helped him out and gave him a big hug. “You are a good digger,” said Daddy.

Climbing High

“What shall we play next?” asked Daddy.

“I know! Climbing!” said little squirrel. He climbed as high as he could. “Look, Daddy!”

“Well done!” said Daddy. But little squirrel got scared and closed his eyes.

“Help!” cried little squirrel. Daddy squirrel helped him climb down and gave him a comforting hug. “You are a good climber,” said Daddy.

Jumping Joy

“What shall we play next?” asked Daddy.

“I know! Jumping!” said little squirrel. He jumped and jumped with a big smile. But then, he got stuck in the mud!

“Oh no! Help!” cried little squirrel. Daddy squirrel helped him out and gave him a hug. “You are good at jumping,” said Daddy.

Playing Together

Little squirrel felt sad. “I don’t want to play anymore,” he said. “I always get stuck.”

Daddy squirrel lifted him up onto his shoulders. “Let’s play together,” he said. “Aren’t daddies the best?”

They ran through the woods, climbed trees, and jumped together. Little squirrel giggled when Daddy got stuck in the mud, and he helped him out.

“You can do everything,” little squirrel said proudly. “I love playing with you, Daddy!”

Love for Daddy

Little squirrel climbed onto Daddy’s shoulders again. “I love my daddy!” he shouted as they raced home happily.

  • What is your favorite thing to do with your daddy or someone special in your life? Why do you enjoy it so much?
  • Little squirrel tried digging, climbing, and jumping. What new activity would you like to try with your family, and how do you think it would make you feel?
  • Can you think of a time when you needed help with something, just like little squirrel? How did it feel to have someone help you, and what did you learn from it?
  1. Squirrel Adventure Role-Play: Gather some props like a small blanket for a “mud puddle,” a pillow for a “tree,” and a toy shovel for “digging.” Encourage the children to act out the story of Little Squirrel and Daddy Squirrel. Let them take turns being the little squirrel and the daddy squirrel, helping each other out of tricky situations. This activity helps children understand the importance of teamwork and support.

  2. Nature Walk Observation: Take the children on a short nature walk around the school or a nearby park. Ask them to look for squirrels or other animals and observe their activities. Encourage them to notice how animals climb, dig, or jump. After the walk, discuss what they saw and how it relates to Little Squirrel’s adventures. This activity helps children connect the story to real-life observations.

  3. Draw and Share: Provide paper and crayons for the children to draw their favorite part of the story. Ask them to think about a time when they needed help or helped someone else, just like Little Squirrel and Daddy Squirrel. Once they finish their drawings, invite them to share their pictures and stories with the class. This activity encourages empathy and sharing personal experiences.
