In today’s Storytime lesson, we explored two heartwarming books: “I Love You Like” by Laurie Joy Smith and “I Love You Wherever You Are” by T.A. Gumbert. Both stories beautifully express love through vivid imagery and relatable sentiments, encouraging children to share their affection with family and reminding them of the warmth and comfort that love brings, no matter the circumstances.
  1. What are some things that love each other in the stories we read?
  2. How do you feel when someone tells you they love you?
  3. Can you think of someone you love and how you can show them you care?

Welcome to Storytime!

Hello, friends! How are you today? Have you been reading lots of fun books? We’re so happy you’re here to read with us!

  • The grass loves a breeze.

I love you like:

  • Clouds love to fly,
  • A kiss loves a cheek,
  • The ocean loves the beach,
  • Balloons love the sky.

I love you like:

  • Raindrops love a puddle,
  • Mars loves a tree,
  • Mushrooms love the shade,
  • Fur loves a cuddle.

  • The moon loves the night.

Wasn’t that a lovely book? Remember to tell your family how much you love them every day. It makes everyone feel happy!

Now, Let’s Read “I Love You Wherever You Are”

Our next book is “I Love You Wherever You Are” by T.A. Gumbert. Let’s dive in!

I Love You Wherever You Are…

I love you wherever you are, little bug. From the first time I held you, you had my whole heart.

When we’re driving in a car, you have the compass of my heart, little bug. It’s true on the road too.

When you’re playing in the yard with toys and friends, you have the joy in my heart, little bug. It’s true in good times too.

When it’s cold and dark, you have the warm light of my heart, little bug. It’s true in the cold too.

When life feels hard, you have the shelter of my heart, little bug. It’s true in tough times too.

Even if we’re far apart, you are always in my heart, little bug. It’s true in the wide open blue.

Remember my love when you look at the stars. You have my light and my heart, my little one, my beautiful bug.

We hope you enjoyed “I Love You Wherever You Are.” It even comes with little stars to remind you how loved you are!

Thank you for reading with us! We can’t wait to share more stories with you. Take care and see you soon! Bye!

  • What is something you love as much as the forest loves a seed or the ocean loves the beach? Can you think of other things in nature that love each other?
  • How do you show your family and friends that you love them? Can you think of a time when someone showed you love in a special way?
  • In the story “I Love You Wherever You Are,” the little bug is always loved, even when far away. Can you think of someone you love who is far away? How do you stay connected with them?
  1. Nature Love Hunt: Go on a nature walk with your family or friends. Look for examples of things in nature that love each other, just like in the book “I Love You Like.” Can you find a flower that loves the sun or a tree that loves the shade? Draw or take pictures of what you find and share them with your class.

  2. Heart Compass Craft: Create a “heart compass” using paper, markers, and a paper fastener. Draw a big heart on a piece of paper and cut it out. Then, draw a smaller arrow and attach it to the heart with the paper fastener so it can spin. Use your heart compass to point to things you love in your home or classroom. Share with your friends what your heart compass points to and why you love those things.

  3. Starry Night Reflection: On a clear night, go outside with a family member and look at the stars. Think about the book “I Love You Wherever You Are” and how the stars remind us of love. Can you find a star that shines especially bright? Imagine it is a special message of love just for you. Draw a picture of your starry night and write a sentence about how it makes you feel loved.

Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:
