Welcome to Storytime!

Hi there, friends! Today, we’re going to read a fun story called “I Must Have Bobo” by Eileen Rosenthal. It’s a special book that we love, and we hope you will love it too!

Where’s Bobo?

When Willie woke up, he had a big problem. Oh no! Bobo was missing! Willie needed Bobo because Bobo helped him with everything. Bobo was brave and not afraid to go down the slide. “Hold tight, Bobo!” Willie said.

Bobo is My Buddy

Bobo was always there to hold Willie’s hand when they walked past a big, scary dog. “Do you think the dog sees us?” Willie wondered. “I must have Bobo!”

Breakfast Time

Willie called out, “Hey, what’s that?” It was Earl! “Come on, Bobo, let’s have breakfast,” Willie said. Bobo thought they were having pancakes. Bobo didn’t like raisins in his oatmeal, but he loved coloring. “Your house will be blue!” Willie said as they colored together.

Building a Fort

Willie and Bobo decided to build a fort. “Hey, Earl, let’s build a fort, and Earl can’t come in!” Willie said. But then, Willie couldn’t find Bobo. “Look at me, Bobo! Where is Bobo? Bobo! Bobo, are you in there?” Willie called out. Maybe pirates had taken Bobo!

Finding Bobo

Oh, Earl! Willie thought Earl might have Bobo. “Hey, wait! Do you have Bobo in there?” Willie asked. “Bobo! Earl! Bobo! Earl!” Willie shouted. Finally, Willie found his Bobo!

  1. Find Your Bobo: Just like Willie, let’s go on a treasure hunt! Ask your parents or teacher to hide a small toy or stuffed animal somewhere in the room. Now, it’s your turn to find it! Once you find your “Bobo,” think about why it’s special to you. Can you share a story about a time it helped you feel brave or happy?

  2. Build a Fort: Gather some pillows, blankets, and chairs to build your own fort just like Willie and Bobo did. Once your fort is ready, invite a friend or family member to join you inside. Pretend you’re on an adventure and think about what you would do if you lost something special like Bobo. How would you find it?

  3. Draw Your Adventure: Grab some crayons and paper. Draw a picture of an adventure you would like to have with your Bobo. Maybe you’re exploring a jungle, sailing on a pirate ship, or having a picnic in the park. Share your drawing with the class and tell them about your adventure. What makes your Bobo important on this journey?
