After the month of January, we have February! Can you say February with me? February, February!
February is the second month of the year. It’s also the shortest month with only 28 days! But sometimes, it has 29 days. That’s called a Leap Year!
February is a month full of fun celebrations!
On February 14th, we celebrate Valentine’s Day. It’s a day to share hearts, hugs, and lots of love with our friends and family!
We also have Presidents’ Day on the third Monday in February. It’s a day to remember and honor all of our Presidents.
On February 2nd, it’s Groundhog Day! We watch to see if the groundhog sees his shadow. If he does, it means 6 more weeks of winter!
February is also Black History Month. It’s a time to learn about and celebrate the achievements and history of Black people.
Can you spell February with me? F-E-B-R-U-A-R-Y. Great job!
So, what month comes after January? That’s right, it’s February! February is a month full of love, history, and fun surprises!
February Calendar Craft: Create your own February calendar! Use a large piece of paper and draw a grid with 28 squares. Decorate each square with stickers or drawings that represent special days in February, like Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day, and Groundhog Day. If it’s a Leap Year, add an extra square for the 29th day! This activity helps you remember the special days and the number of days in February.
Shadow Play: Celebrate Groundhog Day by making shadow puppets! Use a flashlight and your hands to create different shapes on the wall. Can you make a groundhog shape? Try to guess what each shadow represents. This activity helps you understand how shadows work and why they are important on Groundhog Day.
Love and Kindness Jar: In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, create a Love and Kindness Jar. Each day in February, write down one kind thing you did or one thing you love about someone and put it in the jar. At the end of the month, read all the notes together with your family. This activity encourages you to think about love and kindness every day.
