In this lesson, students embark on an exciting beach adventure, discovering various animals like crabs, sea lions, and seagulls while exploring the sand for treasures. They also learn about the importance of environmental stewardship by cleaning up the park and practicing recycling and composting. The lesson encourages curiosity and exploration of the natural world, highlighting the joy of discovering new things.
  1. What animals did we see at the beach?
  2. What fun things can we find when we explore the sand?
  3. How can we help keep the beach and park clean?

Animals at the Beach

Let’s go on a fun adventure to the beach and meet some amazing animals! First, we see a crab scuttling across the sand. Then, we spot a playful sea lion splashing in the water. Look up! There’s a seagull flying high in the sky. Isn’t it exciting to see all these animals?

The Amazing Wheel of Music

Welcome to the Amazing Wheel of Music! Give it a spin and let’s find out which animal song we’ll hear next. Spin, spin, spin… it’s the Sandpiper! This little bird is busy using her beak to find food in the sand. She pokes around and finds a yummy worm. Yum, yum!

Exploring the Sand

Let’s explore the sand together! We can find shells, starfish, and even driftwood. Dig, dig, dig! What treasures can we find? The Sandpiper found her food, and now she’s happy. Exploring the beach is so much fun!

Meet the Sea Turtle

Now it’s time for Cal to spin the wheel. Spin, spin, spin… it’s a sea turtle! She’s swimming gracefully in the sea. It’s almost dinner time for her. Let’s see what new foods she might try. Trying new things can be exciting!

Playing at the Park

After our beach adventure, let’s head to the park to play! The grass is green, and the sky is blue. We can climb, jump, and spin on the merry-go-round. Playing with friends is the best!

Cleaning Up

Before we go home, let’s make sure we clean up. We want the park to be nice for everyone. Let’s pick up any trash we see and put it in the right bins. We can help keep the land and ocean clean by recycling and composting.

Helping the Environment

We can help the environment by reusing things and recycling. Put leaves and fruit peels in the green bin for composting. Recycle glass, paper, and plastic in the blue bin. Anything else goes in the black bin. Working together, we can keep our world clean and beautiful!

Stay Curious!

Thanks for joining us on this adventure! Keep exploring and learning about the amazing world around you. Whether it’s at the beach, in the park, or anywhere else, there’s always something new to discover. See you next time!

  • What animals have you seen at the beach or in a park? Can you describe what they were doing?
  • If you could be any animal at the beach, which one would you choose and why?
  • Why do you think it’s important to clean up after playing at the park or visiting the beach? How can you help keep these places clean?
  1. Beach Animal Hunt: Next time you visit a beach or a park, try to spot different animals like crabs, birds, or even turtles. Bring a small notebook and draw the animals you see. Can you count how many different animals you find? Share your drawings with your friends and family!

  2. Make Your Own Sand Art: Collect some sand, small shells, and pebbles. At home, use a tray or a piece of paper to create your own beach scene. Arrange the sand, shells, and pebbles to make a picture. What story does your sand art tell? Show your creation to your class and explain the story behind it.

  3. Recycling Detective: Become a recycling detective at home! Look around your house and find items that can be recycled, like paper, plastic, or glass. With the help of an adult, sort these items into the correct recycling bins. Can you think of ways to reuse some of these items instead of throwing them away?

The Amazing Wheel of Music! Step right up to the Amazing Wheel of Music, give it a spin, and let’s see what animal song we’ll hear next!

We look at it. [Music] Go Sandpiper! When the waves break, we’re on land. Let’s explore out in the sand. The Sandpiper is finding her food using her bill as a tool. Wow! What can she feel using her bill?

Pack, pack, pack in the mud and sand. We look around for little creatures. What have you found? Shells and starfish, driftwood too! What can we find in the sand?

Look at this! Digging, digging, digging around. What have you found as you dig in the sand? Wow! Look what the Sandpiper found—a little worm below the ground! Now she’s happy; she’s found her food using her bill as a tool. Yum, yum, yum!

We explored and searched; we had so much fun! Life in the sand is great!

That was fun! Now it’s Cal’s turn to give the wheel a spin. There it goes! Sea turtle! A beautiful day on the sea and sand. Wow, look what we found—a sea turtle! She’s so beautiful.

Wait, don’t make a sound! It’s nearly dinner time; she needs some food. Let’s see if she’ll try something new. Let’s all try new things at dinner time!

Let’s get together and see what foods we like. It’s okay to worry when things are new; try to be brave. It’s a wonderful world with so much to offer.

Yes, that’s it! We can all eat together.

Thanks for joining us! See you next time! Until then, keep exploring!

We’re going to the park to play! It’s a sunny day with so many things to see and do. The grass is so green, and the sky is so blue! Climb up high, jump up and down, and turn around on the merry-go-round.

You’ve got so much time to spend to learn, explore, build, and pretend. It’s so much fun to use our imagination as long as we have proper hydration. Plus, the sandbox is a great location, and playing gives us a solid foundation.

So run and hide on the count of ten! It’s great to play with all your best friends. Come on in, take off your shoes and socks—it’s time for fun in the sand!

What a fun party, everyone! Great food, great music, and all my best friends!

Okay, before we go home, we have to remember to clean up. That way, it’s just as fun for the next kids as it was for us.

You’re right! But how do we do that? First, we have to check around the whole sandbox and everywhere we played. Let’s not forget a single place! The more we look, the more we find, and the cleaner we’ll keep our precious sandbox.

Maybe I can help! What do you mean? I call it motivational drumming!

I like it! But I was only blessed with eight arms. Should we throw all this stuff in the garbage now? Wait, not quite yet! Why throw everything away?

If we’re extra careful, we’ll help the environment on land and in the ocean. How can throwing things in the garbage on land help keep the ocean clean? Garbage that isn’t cleaned up can wash into gutters and drain out to the ocean. It can harm lots of my friends in the sea.

When it’s clean, does it give us air, medicine, food, and fun? Yes, a lot!

But when garbage leaks into the ocean, it can tangle up sea life and pollute the water.

It’s easy if we work together! First, anything that we can reuse, we put aside and take home. The best way to take care of trash is not to make any trash.

Now, see those three bins over there? Anything from the earth, like sticks, leaves, fruit rinds, and peels, goes into the green bin. Why the green bin? Because things that come from the earth can be composted.

Everything that can be recycled goes into the blue bins. What’s recycled? Anything made of glass, paper, plastic, and different types of metal can be melted down and used again.

And finally, whatever garbage is left goes into the black bins. I’m so proud of all of you! You really left the sandbox even cleaner than when you found it!

Great job, everybody!

Look around and tell me what you see. A little trash over by that tree! Let’s head over and grab it fast!

Sometimes cleanup can be a blast!

We can’t clean it up; it’s our responsibility! If we clean the land, we clean the sea!

Grab neighbors, friends, and family!

It’s not as hard as it may seem!

Stay curious!
