Hello, friends! How are you today? Are you ready to hear a fun story? Let’s read a book together!
Today, we’re reading “Kindness Makes Me Stronger” by Elizabeth Cold. Let’s see what happens!
Nick was so happy because it was summer vacation. He wanted to visit his grandparents’ farm. When he got there, he gave them big hugs. Grandma said, “I missed you so much, little bug!”
After breakfast, Nick saw the sun shining and asked his grandpa, “Can I go out to play?” Grandpa said yes, and Nick ran outside.
Outside, Nick saw some animals having a silly fight. “Why are you arguing?” Nick asked. Duck said, “Cow won’t share her toys with me.” Sheep said, “Pig took my favorite ball and didn’t ask or say thank you!”
Cow teased Duck about his feathers, and Duck teased Cow back. Pig was upset because Sheep pushed her into a puddle.
Nick said, “Please stop arguing. It’s not nice. Let’s be kind even when we’re upset.”
Duck asked, “What is kindness?”
Nick explained, “Kindness is doing something nice for others. Like helping my sister tie her shoelace or giving my seat to an old man on the bus. It’s about being nice without expecting anything back.”
Nick said, “Kindness is cool! It makes people smile and makes the world a better place.”
Duck said, “Kindness is also waiting your turn to speak and keeping our planet clean by not littering.”
Nick added, “I make my grandma happy by helping her with the dishes. It’s nice to be grateful for the people who help us.”
Pig said, “I’m grateful when my teacher teaches me new things.” Duck said, “I’m grateful to the doctor for helping me.”
Sheep said, “I’ll help Cow with her homework.” Cow thanked him.
Pig promised, “I’ll share my mud with others.” Duck said, “I’ll help my mom clean and take cookies to Mr. Mouse, our neighbor.”
The animals said sorry to each other and learned to be kind and polite. They smiled and said hello when they entered a room.
Nick was happy he helped his friends. Duck thanked Nick for being a good friend. Nick smiled because kindness made him happy.
That’s how kindness works. It makes the world a better place and makes us stronger and happier too!
Now, let’s relax with a treehouse meditation. Find a quiet place and lie down. Close your eyes and take deep breaths.
Inhale… exhale… inhale… exhale…
Feel your body relax and imagine a wave of blue light making you calm and peaceful.
Thank you for joining us for storytime. We hope you enjoyed it! See you next time!
Kindness Jar: Create a “Kindness Jar” at home or in the classroom. Each time you do something kind, write it on a small piece of paper and put it in the jar. At the end of the week, read all the kind acts together and see how many smiles you created!
Kindness Role Play: With a friend or family member, act out different situations where you can show kindness. For example, pretend one of you is upset because you lost a toy, and the other person can show kindness by offering help or a hug. Discuss how it feels to be kind and to receive kindness.
Kindness Hunt: Go on a “Kindness Hunt” around your home or school. Look for opportunities to be kind, like helping someone carry something, sharing a toy, or saying thank you. Keep track of all the kind acts you do in a day and share them with your class or family.
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How are you today? How’s your day going? Did you have a busy day? I hope you’re ready to read a book now!
Today we have “Kindness Makes Me Stronger” by Elizabeth Cold. Are you ready? Let’s go!
Nick was so happy when summer vacation began. Visiting his grandparents’ farm was Little Nick’s plan. He greeted each grandparent with a hug. Grandma gently said, “I miss you so much, little bug.”
After a delicious breakfast, Nick saw the sunny day and politely asked his grandpa, “May I go out to play?” Grandpa nodded, and his grandson disappeared from sight.
As soon as Nick left the house, he saw a silly fight. “Why are you arguing?” Nick asked, surprised. Duck frowned and said, “Cow won’t share her toys with me.” Sheep complained, “Pig took away my favorite ball. He didn’t ask me, and he didn’t thank me at all!” Cow mocked the little duck for having a feathered tail. Duck teased Cow back by shouting, “You’re as huge as a whale!” Pig was angry that Sheep had pushed her into a puddle.
“Please stop arguing,” Little Nick said. “It is rude. Show kindness even when you’re in a bad mood.”
“What is kindness?” Duck questioned, scratching her head.
“Kindness is when you do something nice,” Nick said. “Kindness is when you help others in need. Being kind is when you do any good deed. Like yesterday, I helped my sister tie her shoelace. I was so happy to see a smile on her face. We need to be kind and respect people older than us. The other day, I gave an old man my seat on the bus. I respect my elders, but also those younger than me. Last week, I helped a little boy get his ball from a tree. I didn’t have to do all of that, but I chose to. I was thinking, what if I was in your shoes? Kindness is my choice, and it’s something I want to learn. Kindness is when you give and expect nothing in return. Kindness is shown when you don’t mock people who are different from you. Take a minute and think—maybe for them, you’re different too. The best thing is when you see someone else’s smile. Kindness is pretty cool, and it can be your lifestyle.”
Quack! Duck wanted to say something but opened her beak. “Kindness is also when you wait your turn while others speak. Don’t throw trash on the street or plastic in the sea, and you will see how beautiful our planet can be. My grandma is the best; she fulfills all my wishes, so I make her happy by washing the dishes. Kindness is when you’re grateful to those who are kind to you. I’m grateful when Grandma makes dinner and bakes cookies too.”
Pig said, “I’m grateful when my teacher teaches me new things.” Duck said, “I’m grateful to the doctor for healing my wings.”
Sheep raised his hand and said, “I can be as kind as you! I’ll help Cow do her homework.” And Cow thanked him.
Pig made a promise, “I’ll share my mud with others. Believe me, it’s not easy to share with so many brothers.”
Duck said, “I will help my mom clean the whole house, and I’ll take cookies to our neighbor, Mr. Mouse. Mr. Mouse is lonely, and that makes me sad. I’ll keep him company. I’m sure he’ll be glad.”
The animals were as grateful as they had ever been. They apologized to each other for being rude and mean. They learned to say hello when entering a room and to wear smiles on their faces instead of frowns of gloom. They said, “I’m sorry,” if they accidentally did something wrong. All the animals tried to be kind and polite all day long.
Nick was glad he encouraged others. When the day came to an end, Duck said, “Thank you, Nick, for being such a good friend.” Nick was glad he helped his friends; it put a smile on his face.
That’s how kindness works. It makes the world a better place. Kindness makes me stronger and makes me happy too. When you show kindness to others, kindness returns to you.

Meditation with Storytime Family:
Today we will be practicing a treehouse relaxation meditation, so make sure you’re somewhere quiet and free of distractions. Let’s get started!
Whenever you’re ready, lie down somewhere comfortable and warm, and allow your body to relax. Let your arms and legs lay out and gently close your eyes. Relax your face, your jaw, your eyes, and your neck.
I want you to slowly take three deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Inhale… exhale… inhale… exhale…
Spend a moment or two noticing your feet and legs. Try to let go of any tightness and let them become heavy and relaxed. Imagine a wave of blue light…
