Welcome to our fun kitchen adventure! Today, we’re visiting our friend, the amazing chef, to learn about some cool kitchen tools. Are you ready to explore?
A kitchen knife is used to cut and slice all kinds of food. Remember to be careful so you don’t get hurt!
A cutting board is a flat surface where you chop food. It can be made of wood or plastic.
We use a refrigerator to keep our food fresh and cool. It’s like a big, cold box!
The freezer is super cold! It freezes food so we can keep it for a long time. It’s usually part of the refrigerator.
A platter is a big dish where we put lots of food. We use it to serve food at the table.
A kitchen scale helps us weigh food. For example, we might need 10 ounces of flour to bake a cake.
A dishwasher is a machine that washes all the kitchen tools for us. It’s very helpful!
A spatula is a small tool we use to spread things like frosting on a cake. It’s very handy!
A peeler is a special knife that makes peeling fruits and vegetables easy and fun.
Can you remember all the kitchen tools we learned about today? Let’s list them:

Kitchen Tool Hunt: Ask an adult to help you find some of the kitchen tools we learned about in your own kitchen. Can you find a cutting board, a spatula, or a peeler? Once you find them, think about what each tool is used for and try to describe it in your own words. You can even draw a picture of each tool and write its name next to it!
Food Weighing Experiment: Use a kitchen scale with the help of an adult to weigh different foods. Try weighing an apple, a banana, or a small bag of flour. Write down the weights and compare them. Which one is the heaviest? Which one is the lightest? This will help you understand how a kitchen scale works and why it’s important in cooking.
Freezer Observation: With an adult’s help, place a small cup of water in the freezer and check it after a few hours. What happened to the water? Talk about how the freezer changes the water and why it’s useful for keeping food for a long time. You can also try freezing a small piece of fruit and see how it changes!
