  • What is your favorite animal from the ones we talked about, and why? Do you know where it lives?
  • How is your home similar to or different from the homes of the animals we learned about? What makes your home special to you?
  1. Home Hunt: Go on a “Home Hunt” around your house or classroom. Look for things that start with the letter H. Can you find a hat, a handkerchief, or maybe even a toy horse? Make a list or draw pictures of the H items you find. Share your discoveries with a friend or family member!

  2. Animal Home Match: Draw pictures of the animals mentioned in the article: hippo, horse, and hen. Next, draw their homes: water, barn, and hen house. Cut out the pictures and mix them up. Can you match each animal to its correct home? Try explaining why each animal lives in its specific home.

  3. Build Your Own Home: Using building blocks or recycled materials like boxes and paper, create a model of your own home or an animal’s home. Think about what makes a home special and what you need to include. Once you’re done, describe your creation to someone and tell them why you chose to build it that way.
