Today, we’re going to learn about a special letter in the alphabet. It’s the letter H! Here is what it looks like: this is the big H, and this is the little h. Can you say “H”? Great job!
The word “home” starts with the letter H. Homes are where people live, and they can look very different. Do you know what your home looks like? Is it big or small?
Did you know animals have homes too? Let’s meet some animals and see where they live!
This is a hippo. A hippo’s home is in the water. They love to splash and swim!
Here is a horse. A horse’s home is in a barn. They like to run and play in the fields.
This is a hen. A hen’s home is in a hen house. They lay eggs and cluck happily!
Now, think about your home. What do you like about it? Is it cozy and warm?

Home Hunt: Go on a “Home Hunt” around your house or classroom. Look for things that start with the letter H. Can you find a hat, a handkerchief, or maybe even a toy horse? Make a list or draw pictures of the H items you find. Share your discoveries with a friend or family member!
Animal Home Match: Draw pictures of the animals mentioned in the article: hippo, horse, and hen. Next, draw their homes: water, barn, and hen house. Cut out the pictures and mix them up. Can you match each animal to its correct home? Try explaining why each animal lives in its specific home.
Build Your Own Home: Using building blocks or recycled materials like boxes and paper, create a model of your own home or an animal’s home. Think about what makes a home special and what you need to include. Once you’re done, describe your creation to someone and tell them why you chose to build it that way.
