Let’s Find the Little Chicks!

Hello, friend! My name is Chloe, and I need your help. I’ve lost my five little chickens. Can you help me find them and count them too? Yay! Let’s get started!

Where Are the Chicks Hiding?

Hmm, I wonder where my chicks could be. Maybe they’re hiding behind those bushes. Let’s take a look!

Counting the Chicks

Look, we found one little chick! Do you see any more? Yes, there’s another one in the grass! That’s two chicks! You’re doing great!

Oh, look over there, behind that faraway tree. We found another one! Now we have three little chickens. Let’s keep going!

Let’s check behind that big stone. Yay, there’s another chick! That’s four! And look, the littlest chick is hiding in the flower bed. We found all of them!

Counting Together

Let’s count all the chicks together to make sure we have them all. Ready? One, two, three, four, five! Great job! We found all five little chicks!

Thank you for helping me find my chicks. See you next time!

  • Have you ever played a game where you had to find something that was hidden? What did you have to find, and where did you look?
  • If you had five little chicks, where do you think they might like to hide? Can you think of some fun places they might go?

  1. Chick Hunt at Home: Ask an adult to hide five small objects around your home or classroom, just like Chloe’s chicks were hiding. Then, go on a hunt to find them! Count each object as you find it. Can you find all five? Try hiding them for a friend to find next!

  2. Draw and Count: Draw a picture of a garden or a farm. Now, draw five little chicks hiding in different places in your picture. Share your drawing with a friend or family member and ask them to find and count the chicks. How many did they find?

  3. Chick Counting Game: Use small toys or blocks to represent the chicks. Start with one and add more, counting out loud as you go. Can you count all the way to five? Try counting backward from five to one. How about counting in a different language?
