In today’s lesson, we explored various types of weather, including sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy, snowy, foggy, hot, cold, lightning, and thunder. Each weather condition was described in a fun and engaging way, encouraging students to recognize and appreciate the different elements of weather. We concluded with a group practice to reinforce our learning by saying the weather words together.
  1. What do you like to do when it is sunny outside?
  2. Can you tell me what happens when it is rainy?
  3. How do you feel when it is windy? Do you see anything special?

Let’s Talk About the Weather!

Hello, friends! Today, we’re going to learn about the weather. Do you know what the weather is like today? Let’s find out together!

Different Kinds of Weather

There are many different kinds of weather. Let’s learn about them:

Sunny

When it’s sunny, the sun is shining bright in the sky. It’s a great day to play outside!

Cloudy

When it’s cloudy, the sky is covered with clouds. Sometimes, it looks like the clouds are playing hide and seek with the sun!

Rainy

When it’s rainy, water falls from the sky. You might need an umbrella to stay dry!

Windy

When it’s windy, the air moves fast. You might see leaves dancing in the wind!

Snowy

When it’s snowy, soft white snowflakes fall from the sky. It’s fun to make snowmen and snow angels!

Foggy

When it’s foggy, it’s hard to see far away because the air looks like it’s filled with clouds!

Hot

When it’s hot, the temperature is high. You might want to drink lots of water and stay cool!

Cold

When it’s cold, the temperature is low. It’s a good time to wear a warm coat and mittens!

Lightning

Lightning is a bright flash of light in the sky. It happens during a storm. It’s exciting to watch from inside!

Thunder

Thunder is a loud sound that comes after lightning. It sounds like a big drum in the sky!

Let’s Practice Together!

Now, let’s say all the weather words together in a big voice: Sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy, snowy, foggy, hot, cold, lightning, thunder. Great job!

Thanks for learning about the weather with me. See you next time!

  • What is your favorite kind of weather and why? Can you think of a fun activity you like to do when the weather is like that?
  • Have you ever seen lightning or heard thunder? How did it make you feel, and what did you do when it happened?
  • Can you remember a time when the weather changed quickly? What was it like, and how did it affect your day?
  1. Weather Observation Walk: Take a short walk outside with an adult and observe the weather. Is it sunny, cloudy, rainy, or windy? Draw a picture of what you see and share it with your friends. Talk about how the weather makes you feel and what activities you can do in this weather.

  2. Weather Journal: Create a simple weather journal. Each day, draw a picture of the weather and write a word or two about it. For example, if it’s sunny, draw a sun and write “sunny.” At the end of the week, look back at your journal and see how the weather changed. Discuss which type of weather was your favorite and why.

  3. Weather Experiment: With the help of an adult, fill a clear cup with water and place it in the freezer to make ice. Once frozen, take it out and watch it melt. Talk about how the water changes from solid (ice) to liquid (water) and how this is similar to snow melting in the sun. Discuss what happens to the water when it gets hot or cold.

Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the YouTube transcript:

Hi everyone! How’s the weather today? Let’s take a look: sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy, snowy, foggy, hot, cold, lightning, thunder.

That was great! Let’s do it one more time. In a big voice, repeat after me: Here we go! Sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy, snowy, foggy, hot, cold, lightning, thunder.

Well done! Thanks for watching. See you next time!
