Hello, friends! I’m Caroline from the Khan Academy Kids team, and I’m so happy to see you all here today. I’m joined by my friend, Sophie. Hi, Sophie!
Today, we’re going on a special musical field trip to the zoo with Caitie from Super Simple Songs. Let’s say hi to Caitie!
Hi, everyone! It’s great to see you. Let’s move like different animals before we start our song. Get up on your feet and let’s try it!

Give yourselves a big clap, everyone! That was so much fun. Thanks for joining our musical field trip to the zoo!
Now, let’s read a book about red pandas. Red pandas are mammals that live in bamboo forests. They have thick reddish fur and long, ringed tails to help them balance on branches.
Red pandas are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day and look for food at night. They love eating bamboo, fruits, flowers, and sometimes bird eggs.
Female red pandas build dens with plants and twigs for their cubs. They carry their cubs with their mouths. Isn’t that interesting?
Today, we have a show and tell from our friend Arathnia from Nepal. She sent us three beautiful drawings of outdoor scenes. We see lots of green, rain, flowers, and even a sunny day with birds and butterflies. Thank you, Arathnia!
We’d love to see your show and tells, too. Ask your parents to help you send them to us.
It’s time to say goodbye. Thank you for joining us today. Goodbye from Caroline, Sophie, and the Khan Academy Kids team! See you next time!
Animal Movement Exploration: Choose one animal from the zoo adventure and think about how it moves. Try to move like that animal in different places around your home or outside. For example, can you stomp like an elephant in the living room or waddle like a penguin in the garden? Ask a family member to join you and see if they can guess which animal you are pretending to be!
Red Panda Habitat Creation: Use materials like paper, crayons, and small sticks to create a model of a red panda’s habitat. Think about what a bamboo forest looks like and include elements like trees, bamboo, and a small den for the red panda. Discuss with a friend or family member why these elements are important for the red panda’s survival.
Nighttime Adventure Story: Imagine you are a red panda exploring the forest at night. Write or draw a short story about your adventure. What do you see? What do you eat? Do you meet any other animals? Share your story with someone and ask them what they would do if they were a red panda at night.
