In today’s lesson, we embarked on a fun coin counting adventure with adorable little monsters who needed our help to count their coins. We learned to identify the value of different coins, such as nickels, quarters, dimes, and pennies, and practiced adding them together to find the total amounts for each monster. Great job to everyone for participating and enhancing your coin counting skills!

Welcome to Our Fun Coin Counting Adventure!

Hello, friends! Today, we’re going to have a fun time learning about coins and counting them. Let’s imagine we have some cute little monsters who need our help to count their coins. Are you ready? Let’s get started!

Meet Our First Little Monster

Our first monster has some coins, and we need to find out how much money he has. Let’s look at his coins:

  • A nickel, which is worth 5 cents.
  • A quarter, which is worth 25 cents.
  • A penny, which is worth 1 cent.

Now, let’s add them up! First, we add 5 (nickel) + 25 (quarter) = 30. Then, we add 1 (penny) to 30, which makes 31 cents. Great job! Let’s circle 31.

Our Purple Monster’s Coins

Next, we have a purple monster with some coins. Let’s see what he has:

  • One nickel, worth 5 cents.
  • One quarter, worth 25 cents.

Let’s add them up! First, 5 (nickel) + 25 (quarter) = 30 cents. Yay! Let’s circle 30.

Counting Coins with the Pink Monster

Now, let’s help our pink monster count his coins. He has:

  • One quarter, worth 25 cents.
  • One penny, worth 1 cent.

Let’s add them together! First, 25 (quarter) + 1 (penny) = 26 cents. Awesome! Let’s circle 26.

Our Orange Monster’s Coins

Finally, we have an orange monster with some coins. Let’s see what he has:

  • One dime, worth 10 cents.
  • One nickel, worth 5 cents.
  • One quarter, worth 25 cents.

Let’s add them up! First, 10 (dime) + 5 (nickel) = 15. Then, add 25 (quarter) to 15, which makes 40 cents. Fantastic! Let’s circle 40.

Great Job, Coin Counters!

Thanks for helping our little monsters count their coins. You did an amazing job! Keep practicing, and you’ll become a coin-counting expert in no time. See you next time for more fun learning adventures. Bye!

  • What kinds of coins have you seen or used before? Can you describe what they look like and how much they are worth?
  • If you found some coins on the ground, what would you do with them? How would you decide what to buy or save?
  • Imagine you are a monster with your own coins. How would you organize them, and what would you like to buy with your coins?
  1. Coin Hunt at Home: Ask an adult to help you gather some coins from around the house. Try to find at least one of each type: penny, nickel, dime, and quarter. Once you have your coins, practice counting them just like you did with the monsters. Can you find a way to make 31 cents, 30 cents, 26 cents, and 40 cents using different combinations of your coins? Share your findings with a family member!

  2. Coin Rubbing Art: Create a fun piece of art using coins! Place a piece of paper over a coin and gently rub a crayon over it to make a coin rubbing. Try this with different coins and see if you can make a rubbing of each type. Once you have all your rubbings, label them with their values and add them up to see how much money you have in your artwork.

  3. Story Time with Coins: Imagine you are a little monster who found a treasure chest full of coins. Write a short story or draw a picture about what you would do with the coins. How would you count them? What would you buy? Share your story or drawing with your class or family and see what fun ideas everyone comes up with!

Welcome to Kids Academy! Hello everyone! Let’s open the worksheet. Don’t forget to like this video and subscribe to our channel. You can find the link to this app in the comments below.

Today, let’s take a look at our worksheet. Our directions say to count the value of coins and circle the number that equals this amount. So, let’s take a look at our first little monster over here and see how many coins he has.

I’m going to write down how much each one of these coins is worth. The first one is a nickel, which is worth five cents. The next one is a quarter, and that one is worth 25 cents. The last one is a penny, which is worth one cent.

Now, let’s add these up together. I’ve got five plus five, which is ten, and one more is eleven. So, I’m going to carry the one and add this up. Two plus one is three, so my answer is 31 cents. Let’s go ahead and circle that.

The next one is our purple little monster. Let’s see how much he has. It looks like he’s got one nickel and one quarter. A nickel is worth five cents, and a quarter is worth 25 cents. So, let’s add these up together. Five plus five is ten, so I’m going to put the zero and carry the one. Then, two plus one is three, so we’ve got 30 cents. Let’s find 30 and circle it. Great job!

Now, we’re going to move on to the next one. We’ve got our pink little monster here. He has a quarter and a penny in his hand. A quarter is worth 25 cents, and a penny is worth one cent. So, let’s add these up together. Five plus one is six, and then we bring down the two, which equals 26. Let’s circle the 26. Nice job!

Finally, we have our orange little monster. Let’s see what he has. We’ve got a dime, a nickel, and a quarter. A dime is worth 10 cents, the quarter is worth 25 cents, and the nickel is worth five cents.

Let’s add these up together. Five plus five is ten, plus zero we don’t count, so we just leave it as ten. Carry the one over here, and then we add this up together: two plus three is four. So, we’ve got 40 cents. Now, let’s find 40 and circle it. Nice job!

Thanks for trying this with me! See you next time! Bye!
