The Sound of Z

Let’s start with the sound I make. Can you say it with me? Zzz! Great job!

Writing the Letter Z

Now, let’s learn how to write me. First, we draw a straight line across. Then, we make a diagonal line down. Finally, we draw another straight line across. It looks like a zigzag!

When we write a smaller Z, we start with a little line up, then a diagonal line down, and finish with a line across. It looks like a fun road!

Words with Z

Let’s find some words that start with Z. Have you been to the zoo? Zoo starts with Z, and you can see lots of animals there!

How about Zumba? It’s a fun dance, and it starts with Z too. Zoe loves to dance Zumba!

Can you count how many Z’s are in the word zigzag? One, two! Good job!

What about the word zone? It starts with Z as well. You’re doing great!

Now let’s have a look at how to write me. Like this: we start here, we draw a straight line over here, now we’re lying down and back here, and the last thing is another line to the right again.

What do you think I look like this time? I know, a trampoline!

Now let’s try the smaller capital. We draw up a little, then draw over here, we go down here, and finish over there.

So well done! Great! Now it looks like a road. Try it at home with pen and paper; it’s super easy!
