In today’s Storytime lesson, we explored the book “Life” by Cynthia Rylant and Brendan Wenzel, which emphasizes the beauty and wonder of life, starting from small beginnings. We discussed how every creature has its own loves, the challenges we face, and the importance of finding joy and beauty in our surroundings. The lesson concluded with a reminder of the love from family and the excitement of new adventures that each day brings.
  1. What is something small that you love, just like the animals in the story?
  2. Can you think of a time when you felt a little sad? What made you feel better?
  3. What is something beautiful you see outside or in your home?

Welcome to Storytime!

Hello, friends! I’m so happy you’re here with me today. Are you ready to hear a wonderful story? Let’s have fun together!

Today’s Story: “Life”

Today, we’re going to read a special book called “Life” by Cynthia Rylant and Brendan Wenzel. Are you excited? Let’s dive in!

Life Starts Small

Did you know that everything starts small? Even big elephants start tiny! Just like you were once a little baby, and now look at how much you’ve grown!

What Do Animals Love?

Every animal has something it loves. The hawk loves the sky, the camel loves the sand, and the snake loves the grass. What do you love? Maybe you love playing outside or drawing pictures!

Life Can Be Hard

Sometimes, life can be a little tricky, like when you can’t find your favorite toy. But don’t worry! There’s always something new and exciting just around the corner.

Finding Beauty Everywhere

All around the world, there are beautiful things to see and love. If you ever feel sad, remember that there are always new adventures waiting for you. Just like the rabbit hopping in the field or the deer running through the forest, there’s always something wonderful to discover!

Life is Beautiful

Life is full of surprises and beauty. Every morning is a chance to see something amazing. And remember, your family loves you so much, and that makes life even more special!

Thank You for Joining!

I hope you enjoyed our story today. Remember to read lots of books and take care of yourself and your family. I can’t wait to see you next time for more fun stories!

  • What is something small that you have seen grow into something big, just like the story mentioned about elephants and babies?
  • Can you think of an animal and what it might love, like the hawk loves the sky? What is something you love doing and why?
  • Have you ever found something beautiful or exciting when you were feeling a little sad? What was it, and how did it make you feel better?
  1. Plant a Seed: Let’s explore how life starts small by planting a seed! Find a small pot, some soil, and a seed (like a sunflower or bean). Plant the seed in the soil, water it, and place it in a sunny spot. Watch it grow over the days and weeks. Talk about how the seed is like the beginning of life, just like the story mentioned.

  2. Animal Love Match: Think about the animals from the story and what they love. Can you find pictures of these animals and match them with their favorite things? For example, match a picture of a hawk with the sky. You can draw these animals and their favorite things or cut out pictures from magazines. Discuss why you think each animal loves its special place.

  3. Nature Walk Adventure: Go on a nature walk with your family or friends. Look for beautiful things around you, like colorful flowers, tall trees, or tiny insects. Take a moment to appreciate the beauty in nature, just like the story suggests. After your walk, draw a picture of your favorite thing you saw and share why it made you happy.

Hi everyone, welcome back to the Storytime Family! I hope you’re having a good day and that you’ve been keeping well. How many books have you read today? Is this your first book? Well, good job for sitting down and reading with us!

Let’s have a look. Today we have “Life” by Cynthia Rylant and Brendan Wenzel. Let’s check it out!

Life begins small, even for the elephants. Then it grows, just like you. One day you were just this little tiny peanut, and look at you now! Beneath the sun and the moon, life grows, as any animal on earth.

What do you love about life? The hawk will say “sky,” the camel will say “sand,” the snake will say “grass.” The turtle may remain quiet; it has seen much in its hundred years, but the turtle loves life. How could it not, with so much rain on its back?

Life is not always easy. There will probably be a stretch of wilderness now and then, but wilderness eventually ends, and there is always a new road to take.

Remember this: in every corner of the world, there is something to love and something to protect. And if one day it seems nothing beautiful would ever come your way again, trust a rabbit in the field and the deer who crosses your path. Trust the wolf and the wild geese who find your way back home. All these know something about life: that everything is changing, and it is worth waking up in the morning to see what might happen.

Because life begins small and grows. Life is hard, but life is also so beautiful and worth waking up to every morning, especially to your family who loves you so much. Aren’t we all so lucky?
