In the “Welcome to Storytime!” lesson, children are introduced to the book “Listen” by Tatsuya Fushimi and Britney Vu, which emphasizes the importance of recognizing and choosing between the positive and negative voices in their minds. The lesson encourages kids to trust their heart’s intuition, which serves as a guiding voice filled with love and support, empowering them to be bold and authentic in their lives. Ultimately, the message is about self-trust and the journey of embracing one’s true self.
  1. What are the two voices in your mind, and how do they make you feel?
  2. Why is it important to listen to the voice in your heart?
  3. How can you practice trusting yourself and being bold?

Welcome to Storytime!

Hello, friends! How are you today? Did you have fun at school? Did you get to play outside? I hope it’s sunny and bright where you are!

Let’s Read a Book Together!

Today, we’re going to read a book called “Listen” by Tatsuya Fushimi and Britney Vu. Are you ready to join me?

Listening to the Voices

Have you ever listened closely to the voices in your mind and heart? These voices have been with you from the very start. They can either help you reach your dreams or hold you back.

The Two Voices in Your Mind

In your mind, there are two voices. One is positive and cheers you on, saying things like, “Dream big! You’re amazing!” The other is negative and might say, “You’re not good enough.” These voices can change how you feel each day.

Choosing the Right Voice

Sometimes, we compare ourselves to others or worry about what they think. This can make the negative voice louder. But remember, you have the power to choose which voice to listen to!

The Voice in Your Heart

Inside your heart, there’s a special voice. Some people call it intuition or a gut feeling. It’s like your own superpower! This voice is always right and knows what’s best for you.

The voice in your heart is full of love and wants to guide you. Trust it, even if others don’t understand. It will help you be brave and show the world how amazing you are!

Be Bold and Trust Yourself

When you listen to your heart, you might feel scared at first. But be patient and let your heart lead the way. Dance, have fun, and be the real you!

Remember, it’s your choice to trust the voice in your heart. Keep practicing and enjoy the journey!

Thank You for Joining Storytime!

And that’s the end of our story, “Listen.” I hope you enjoyed it! If you liked the story, show some love to the authors and maybe get your own copy of the book.

Thanks for being here with me today. I can’t wait to see you again soon. Take care and bye-bye!

  • Can you think of a time when you heard a positive voice in your mind cheering you on? What did it say, and how did it make you feel?
  • Have you ever felt a special feeling in your heart telling you what to do? What was it about, and did you listen to it?
  • Why do you think it’s important to listen to the positive voice in your mind and the voice in your heart? How can they help you in your daily life?
  1. Voice Journal: Start a “Voice Journal” where you can draw or write about the two voices in your mind. Each day, think about a time when you heard the positive voice and a time when you heard the negative voice. Draw a picture of what each voice might look like and how they made you feel. Share your drawings with a family member or friend and talk about how you can make the positive voice louder.

  2. Heart Listening Adventure: Go on a “Heart Listening Adventure” around your home or neighborhood. Find a quiet spot and close your eyes. Listen to the sounds around you and then focus on the voice in your heart. What is it telling you? Is there something you feel excited or happy about? Draw or write about your adventure and what your heart’s voice said. Discuss with a parent or teacher how listening to your heart can help you make decisions.

  3. Role-Playing Game: With a friend or family member, play a role-playing game where one person is the positive voice and the other is the negative voice. Take turns saying things the voices might say in different situations, like trying a new activity or meeting new friends. After the game, talk about how it felt to hear each voice and which one you would choose to listen to. Think about how you can encourage others to listen to their positive voice too.

Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

Hello, welcome back to the Storytime family! How are you today? How was school? Did you get to play outside?

Let’s have a look.

Listen. Can you hear them? Listen closely. Close your eyes. Not a radio, the TV, or a car driving by. They’ve been with you from the very start—the voices in your mind and in your heart.

But understand they’re different; know it very clearly. They can kill your dreams or help you persevere. In your mind are two voices: one is positive, the other negative. The negative voice never plays fair.

Your mind says anything is possible, reminds you of how gifted you are, or it holds you back, beats you down, and makes sure you don’t go far. It shouts, “Dream big! Keep going! You’re amazing! You’re free!” Or it tells you, “You’re not good enough. You’re weak.”

One day it says, “You’re loved! Everything will be fine!” The next day it says, “Just give up. You don’t have enough time.” The voices in your mind will try to trick you every day. They’ll affect your feelings to forget what your heart truly wants to say.

Do you compare yourself to people? Do you care too much about what they say? These are the two biggest ways these voices will lead you astray.

So next time you hear people speak, notice the words they say. Some are positive, some are negative. They too hear voices that get in their way.

But here’s the important thing: understand that you have the choice. You have the power to listen to either voice. Now in your heart, there’s only one voice; this one must never be ignored. Some people call it intuition; others say gut feeling. It’s your superpower forevermore.

It’s a feeling deep inside, your guiding light. It’s always on; it’s always right. It’s very wise, knows what’s best for you, and it never lies. It’s fearless, pulls you forward even if you don’t know why.

The voice in your heart is pure love—something only you can hear. Some people would never understand; it may be hard to explain. But you mustn’t fear. Trust the voice in your heart, even if you feel alone.

This is key to your greatness that the world must be shown. Your heart knows where to go; it will show you the way. Just take a step in that direction. Choose to be bold every day.

At first, your mind may be scared because of the unknown. Be patient; it will follow and expand your comfort zone. Have the courage to let your heart lead. Take care of this powerful voice.

Does the world see the real you? It’s your responsibility, your choice. Trust the process and keep practicing. Dance your heart out!

And that was “Listen.” I hope you enjoyed that story. Do show the author lots of love and get your own copy of this book. The links are in the description below.
