Our Story: “Little Winkle Needs to Tinkle”

Today, we have a story called “Little Winkle Needs to Tinkle” by Tommy and Cindy Coleman. Let’s find out what happens!

Little Winkle’s Adventure

Little Winkle is riding in the car with Mommy and Daddy. They haven’t gone very far when Little Winkle feels he needs to tinkle (that means he needs to use the bathroom!).

Before they left, Mommy asked if he needed to go, but Little Winkle said no because he wanted to play. Now, he really needs to tinkle!

What Will Little Winkle Do?

Little Winkle can’t go in the car, and he can’t use his shoe! Daddy asks why he didn’t go before they left. Little Winkle says, “I just wanted to play!”

His tummy feels like a big balloon, and he starts to wiggle and dance. He doesn’t want to wet his pants!

Almost There!

Mama tells Little Winkle they will be at a bathroom soon. She saw a sign that says there’s a rest stop just one mile away. She hopes there won’t be a line because Little Winkle really needs to tinkle!

Finally, Relief!

Daddy stops the car and opens the door. Little Winkle is so happy! There’s no line at the toilet, and he makes it just in time. It feels so good to finally tinkle!

Daddy reminds Little Winkle to always go before they leave. Little Winkle agrees and says, “Yes, Daddy, you are right. I also think I need a drink!”

Remember the Lesson!

Do you think it’s a good idea to have a drink right after? Remember, it’s always smart to tinkle before you leave!

  2. Balloon Belly Experiment: Let’s see what it feels like when Little Winkle’s tummy felt like a big balloon! Take a small balloon and blow it up a little bit. Feel how it stretches. Now imagine your tummy feeling like that when you need to tinkle! Talk about how it feels and why it’s important to go to the bathroom before you feel like a balloon.

  3. Observation Challenge: Next time you’re out with your family, look for signs that show where the bathrooms are, just like Mama did in the story. Can you spot them? Share what you find with your family and talk about why it’s helpful to know where the bathrooms are when you’re traveling.
