Hello, friends! It’s Ryan and Craig from Story Time with Ryan and Craig! We love sharing stories with you. If you enjoy our stories, you can see more on our website, RyanandCraig.com, or follow us on Instagram!
Today, we’re reading a book called “Sick Simon” by Dan Crawl. This book was sent to us by Nikki Trip from St. Patrick’s Elementary School in Canada. Thank you, Nikki!
Simon was feeling sick, but he was excited for the week ahead. Even though he had a cold, he wanted to go to school because he loved it so much!
On Monday, Simon had his favorite breakfast and rode the bus to school. He loved math and enjoyed participating in class.
On Tuesday, Simon got to take care of Mr. Warbles, the class chinchilla. He shared snacks with his friends and had show-and-tell.
Wednesday was extra special because of a field trip!
Thursday was fun with recess, but Simon really looked forward to Mr. Silhouette’s class.
Friday was the best because there was a big game of kickball!
By the end of the week, Simon realized he wasn’t feeling his best. He learned to cover his mouth when he sneezed and coughed, and he used tissues to blow his nose. He also washed his hands with warm, soapy water to stay clean.
Simon rested over the weekend and drank lots of water. By Monday, he felt great and was ready to go back to school!
We had so much fun reading “Sick Simon.” Thank you again to Nikki Trip for sending us this wonderful book!
We love hearing from you! Some of our friends like Charlotte, Denise, Melinda, and Kimberly shared nice messages with us. Kimberly’s son Marcos asked about our favorite colors. Craig likes gray, and I like blue!
We hope you enjoyed the story. Remember, you can always find us on Instagram or visit RyanandCraig.com for more fun stories. See you next time!
Germ Detective: Let’s pretend to be detectives and find out where germs might be hiding! At home or in the classroom, look for places where people often touch, like doorknobs, light switches, and toys. Use a magnifying glass or just your eyes to spot these places. Talk with your friends or family about why it’s important to keep these areas clean and how washing hands can help stop germs from spreading.
Healthy Habits Chart: Create a chart with your family or classmates to track healthy habits. Include activities like washing hands, covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and drinking water. Each time you do one of these activities, put a sticker or draw a smiley face on your chart. At the end of the week, see how many healthy habits you practiced!
Story Time Role Play: Act out a scene from “Sick Simon” with your friends or family. Choose a part where Simon learns to take care of himself, like washing his hands or using a tissue. Take turns being Simon and his friends. After the role play, talk about how Simon felt better by taking care of himself and how you can do the same when you feel sick.

Today’s book is “Sick Simon” by Dan Crawl. Let’s get started!
“Sick Simon” by Dan Crawl. Simon was sick. It was Monday, and he didn’t care if he had a cold; he was ready for the best week ever! Should he stay home from school? He was not running everywhere.
He kissed his family good morning and had his favorite breakfast. He rode the bus to school and had fun the whole way.
Simon’s favorite place was school. Math was Simon’s best subject, so he participated a lot.
On Tuesday, Simon got to take care of Mr. Warbles, the class chinchilla. He shared snacks with friends and had show-and-tell.
Wednesday’s field trip was a treat!
Although recess on Thursday was a blast, what Simon was really looking forward to was Mr. Silhouette’s class.
On Friday, there was a super big game of kickball.
On the way home, Simon started thinking maybe this wasn’t the best week after all.
Simon covered his mouth when he sneezed and coughed, and he blew his nose with a tissue. He threw the tissue into the trash can and went to the sink to wash his hands with warm, soapy water.
Simon rested all weekend and drank lots of fluids.
