In this lesson, Nash and his friends from the planet Wutania invite participants to help them find their special space glasses, which were mixed up during a space storm. Each character has a different number of eyes and requires glasses with a corresponding number of lenses, providing an engaging way for learners to practice counting and problem-solving. Once all the glasses are found, the group expresses gratitude and excitement for their upcoming space adventures.
  1. How many eyes does Nash have?
  2. Can you tell me how many lenses Magla’s glasses have?
  3. Who had the most eyes and needed the most lenses for their glasses?

Welcome to Our Space Adventure!

Hello, friends! My name is Nash, and I want you to meet my friends Magla, Wycocks, Zuland, and Walp. We come from a faraway planet called Wutania.

Our Special Space Glasses

On our planet, everyone wears special space glasses. But last night, a big space storm came and mixed up all our glasses! We need your help to find them. Will you help us?

Finding the Right Glasses

Let’s start with me, Nash! I have three eyes, so I need glasses with three lenses. Can you spot them?

Yay! You found them! Thank you!

Now it’s Magla’s turn. Magla has one eye, so she needs glasses with one lens. Can you see them?

Great job! Those are Magla’s glasses!

Next is Wycocks. He has four eyes, so he needs glasses with four lenses. Where could they be?

Awesome! You found Wycocks’ glasses!

Now let’s help Zuland. Zuland has two eyes, so he needs glasses with two lenses. Can you find them?

Perfect! Those are Zuland’s glasses!

Finally, it’s Walp’s turn. Walp has five eyes, so he needs glasses with five lenses. Can you spot them?

Hooray! You found Walp’s glasses!

Ready for Adventure!

Thank you so much for helping us find our glasses. Now that we have them, we’re ready for lots of fun adventures in space! See you next time, bye-bye!

  • What do you think it would be like to live on a planet like Wutania where everyone has different numbers of eyes? How would it be different from living on Earth?
  • If you could design your own special glasses, what would they look like and what special powers would they have?
  • Have you ever helped someone find something they lost? How did it make you feel, and why do you think helping others is important?
  1. Make Your Own Space Glasses: Gather some craft materials like colored paper, scissors, glue, and markers. Ask the children to create their own space glasses. Encourage them to think about how many eyes their imaginary alien might have and design glasses with the same number of lenses. This activity helps children apply the concept of matching the number of lenses to the number of eyes in a fun and creative way.

  2. Eye-Spy Game: Play a game of “Eye-Spy” where children look around the classroom or playground to find objects that match a certain number. For example, “I spy something with three parts,” and they might find a tricycle. This game encourages observation and helps reinforce counting and matching skills.

  3. Story Time with Questions: Read a story about aliens or space adventures. After the story, ask questions like, “If you were an alien with four eyes, what kind of glasses would you need?” or “What other things might aliens need to match their special features?” This encourages imaginative thinking and helps children relate the concept to different scenarios.
